Vast, wild and long, Sweden stretches towards the far reaches of Lapland, forming a link between continental Europe and Scandinavia as a whole. From the Baltic Sea to the Gulf of Bothnia, thousands of islands are scattered across the water. No fjords here – just islands. And countless lakes, piercing the heart of endless boreal forests and glacial mountains. This green Sweden is embodied by Dalarna – even if its capital Falun is better known for its coppery hue. Insular Sweden is beautifully embodied by the Bohuslän archipelago. When it comes to cities, Stockholm, set across multiple islands, is exceptionally elegant in every season, while Gothenburg offers an electrifying artistic vibe, yet always on a human scale. Travel to Sweden by region

Dalarna & Skane

In central Sweden, on the border with Norway, the Dalarna region keeps centuries-old Swedish traditions very much alive. During your trip to Dalarna, you simply cannot miss a visit to the Falun copper mine, now a UNESCO World Heritage site and the source of the famous red paint that adorns traditional wooden houses. You can also discover the four national parks in this mountainous region, lying between deep forests and lakes, and take part in a wide range of outdoor activities there. Finally, in winter, a stay in Dalarna will give you the chance to compete with the greatest cross-country skiing champions on the famous Vasaloppet trail.

Stockholm & surroundings

Between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea, the Swedish capital, Stockholm, stretches across 14 islands. From the cobbled streets of the old town, watched over by the royal palace and magnificent Gothic churches, to the prestigious boutiques of Östermalm, a stay in Stockholm and its region will immerse you in a welcoming city, lively yet peaceful, and rich in contrasts. Your trip to Stockholm and surrounds will also give you the chance to explore the untouched forest of Tyresta National Park, just 20 km (12 miles) from the capital, to sail from island to island through the peaceful and serene landscapes of the Stockholm archipelago, and to enjoy activities such as fishing, kayaking and cycling, among others.

Swedish Lapland

More discreet than its Scandinavian neighbours, Swedish Lapland is all the more fascinating for it. In the far north of the country, this quarter of Sweden unveils a vast landscape of lakes and mountains, forests and islands grouped into archipelagos. In summer, people go hiking there; in winter, it is dog sledding or snowmobiling that takes over through Abisko National Park, which borders the Norwegian border. Of course, the Northern Lights are a highlight of a journey to Swedish Lapland. And if they become capricious, we rely on the beauty of traditional villages such as Jukkasjärvi.
