A mythical and unmissable peak of the African continent, whose eternal snows rise to over 5,800 metres (19,028 feet), Mount Kilimanjaro is a sight that every trip to Tanzania will behold, whether from near or far. To truly capture this unique atmosphere, you need to wander through the winding alleys of the medina, walk along the grey Portuguese coral fort and the crumbling façades of old Arab palaces, brush past the heavy Indian doors studded with copper, visit the House of Wonders, the house where Livingstone prepared for his final African expedition, and head to the east coast where the island’s most beautiful beaches stretch out, with their ultra-fine sand. A journey to Zanzibar is often taken after a safari in Tanzania, for a well-deserved rest.
