100% customisable travel idea
Copenhagen - Nuuk
100% customisable for you
Stay for the night in Vesterbro, Copenhagen's former red-light district. Today, it is a cool, alternative, even family-friendly neighbourhood, where funky bars rub shoulders with trendy restaurants and fashionable concept stores with old-fashioned shops. As an added bonus, it is close to the capital's main attractions. Your sophisticated hotel is housed in a magnificent 19th-century building. Your room is spacious and bright. In true Danish style, the design is elegant and the furniture well thought out. At sunset, you will discover another of the hotel's assets: the rooftop bar, which is as popular with guests as it is with locals, who come here to end the day on a high note in a friendly atmosphere.
You arrive in the early afternoon, giving you time to stroll around Copenhagen at your leisure. You could head to Norrebro, which is home to Superkilen Park and brings together urban architecture from some 60 countries in three sections: a Moroccan fountain, Brazilian benches, chess tables and barbecues, Chinese palm trees, and more In Christiansborg, you’ll find the seat of parliament and the royal family. Then there’s also the Nyhavn district, where you can stroll along canals, boats and colourful facades. And if the call of the museums is irresistible, you have the Statens Museum for Kunst and the Designmuseum Danmark at the top of the list.
Optional - A private tour to discover the cultures of the native peoples of Greenland.
See and do - Discover Copenhagen the Danish way - i.e. by bike - by setting off on the capital's 250 miles (400 kilometres) of cycle paths; recharge your batteries in the botanical gardens, whose splendid greenhouses were rebuilt in the 1870s and house spectacular collections, including titan arum and Papuan orchids; have brunch at one of the capital's trendy spots.
In the afternoon, fly to Nuuk and stay for two nights at a contemporary establishment with comfortable rooms. The fairly classic interiors have a simplicity that makes everyone feel at home. There are two restaurants on site. In one of these restaurants, you can grab a quick bite to eat and try sarfaliks, which are Danish open sandwiches. In the other restaurant, which is perched on the fifth floor, you can try grilled dishes while gazing at a wonderful view of the city and the fjord. Tikilluarit(welcome)!
Nuuk is the capital of Greenland and was once Viking and Inuit. It then became Norwegian when a missionary ‘officially’ founded it in 1729. It remains the cultural and artistic centre of the island to this day.
On your itinerary - Kaffemik with locals. Kaffemik, which literally means “thanks to coffee” in Greenlandic, is a convivial tradition that simply consists of getting together to celebrate a birth, birthday, wedding or any other significant event. The host pulls out all the stops for the occasion, bringing out their finest tableware and laying the table with sweets, cakes and... coffee, of course. The more people there are, the more successful the reception is - it doesn't matter if the parade of guests lasts all day! A guide will accompany you at one of these warm gatherings.
Transfer by zodiac and stay for three nights in your temporary teepee camp, set between the sea and the oldest mountains in the world, in the heart of the fjords and at the foot of Mount Kinaussaq. Life here follows the rhythm of nature - which is only natural, since it is the only thing for miles around. Finally, you can get a real taste of what “glamping” is in the breathtaking wilderness with lightweight facilities that disturb it as little as possible, and all the comforts you need to not miss a hotel. In your spacious tent, no expense has been spared on comfort. You’ll have an XXL bed, soft duvet, heated blankets, and more. With a maximum of ten occupants, each experience at the camp is personalised, thanks in particular to the invaluable presence of knowledgeable guides and companions. During the day, you can explore the surroundings with them, on foot, by kayak or by boat, pick mushrooms, and take part in a bare-handed fishing session. You’ll also experience the invigorating Arctic swim, which can be followed by a moment in the sauna or hot tub. In the evening, the camp gathers in the “restaurant” tent, where the chef prepares a different menu every day. Then you’ll gather around the campfire under the midnight sun.
On your itinerary - Private kayaking trip , an educational walk and picking edible berries and herbs that grow naturally in the surrounding area. These will be a superb accompaniment to the freshly caught fish that will be cooked over a wood fire by the fjord. Also planned: a swim among the icebergs. To do this, you'll put on the appropriate equipment: a waterproof suit capable of preserving body heat even in the coldest waters. Then you'll float in the silence of the polar wilderness...
On your itinerary - A traditional fishing session.. In keeping with Greenlandic culture, fishing here is done with bare hands. This technique requires patience, skill and respect for the rhythms of nature. The reward is the freshest Arctic char, cooked and smoked on the same day. A short hike is required to reach the fishing spot, which provides an opportunity to enjoy new views of the fjord and surrounding mountains.
