On arrival in Malé, the seaplane is waiting for you. It takes you on a 30-minute or so flight over the Indian Ocean. From up there, you take in the archipelago’s colours: blue, green and white. The first is shared between the sky and the water, and varies infinitely. The second one sways gently in the breeze, dense and sustained. As for the third, it shimmers under the sun’s rays.
