An exceptional trip for an exceptional occasion. Your honeymoon is a holiday of a lifetime that calls for “something extra” befitting the event. Southern Africa has got what it takes. Discover its grandeur with amazement and its charm with delight. Your first stop is Windhoek in Namibia. There, you’ll get behind the wheel of a suitable vehicle and set off for formerDamaraland. In Omaruru, get acquainted with the bush and hike in the Erongo Mountains, whose unique landscape was shaped by volcanoes. Perhaps you’ll spot your first zebra in the wild. You’ll then reach the Atlantic coast. Swakopmund was built by the Germans to house askaris and administrators. Today, this Art Nouveau architecture from the other side of the world adds a retro touch to one of the country’s most popular seaside resorts. Finally, in Sesriem, you’ll discover the dunes of the Namib Desert and the Naukluft Mountains, where a national park preserves the region’s majestic aridity and unexpected palette of colours. Return to Windhoek to conclude the Namibian chapter of your trip. A short flight then brings you to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. What’s left to say about this natural wonder on the Zambezi River? Yet nothing quite prepares you for the power of the phenomenon: its suddenness, volume, height, churning and spray render visitors speechless. And all this water, after all that sand, arrives just at the right moment. After all, these are Africa’s Niagara Falls, aren’t they? For the final leg, fly to the north-east of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Khwai stands on the edge of the pioneering Moremi Game Reserve. A pristine safari paradise in one of the corners of Africa where the sense of natural dignity is at its strongest. People here rarely dispute that plants and animals take precedence. They simply admire. And so you reach the end of a truly inaugural journey.

Your Trip

Freedom and intimacy, so essential on a honeymoon, are both respected on this trip. The logistics are carefully planned with a light touch. Just the right amount of time in the air. Private transfers. And a 4x4 for one week so you can travel as you wish (getting around Namibia with this type of vehicle is no problem). Accommodation tailored to each stop: designer hotel in Windhoek, upper-canopy suite at Victoria Falls, safari camp in the Okavango Delta, etc. Everywhere, you’ll find excellent conditions and a home of the highest standard. On top of that, restaurants will often surprise you. And since it’s important to have some treats to look forward to, we have included a few essential features in your itinerary: hiking in the Erongo Mountains; Sandwich Harbour on the Atlantic coast; and excursions to discover the flora and fauna of the Okavango. Various options are available, if required, especially in Victoria Falls. And if, along the way, you have a last-minute request or any concerns, you’ll have the contact details of our on-site Concierge, who is there to help you. They can work with your travel specialist to adapt your trip to suit your wishes - even during the journey itself.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Flight via Johannesburg. Night on board, arrival the next day.

Traveller welcome and assistance with formalities. Transfer to Windhoek. Meet up with your Concierge. Stay overnight in the Eros Park neighbourhood. The hotel occupies a building of immaculate modernism with stone courtyards. A bottle tree does not look out of place here. The pool creates a neat blue rectangle in the paving. Inside, chic animal-themed cushions and photos enhance the white walls and greige canvas with silhouettes and colours. The rooms offer contemporary comfort - top-notch amenities and quality bedding. At the restaurant, you’ll find Namibian and international dishes on the menu. In short, ideal conditions to recover from the flight and prepare for adventure.

Pick up of the rental vehicle. Drive to Damaraland. Overnight stay southwest of Omaruru, in a striking landscape of stacked boulders and arid escarpment. The bungalows are sheltered by large grey thatched roofs. The rooms are simply furnished, pretty and comfortable. You feel comfortable here and genuinely enjoy being there. All the privacy you could ever wish for, too. At the restaurant, Namibian and international cuisine are served. The bar is, of course, the place for sharing impressions of Africa and tips. Outdoors, there is a pool for the day and a fire pit for the evening. Very close by, a waterhole offers the chance to make your first wildlife observations.
On your itinerary - the Erongo Mountains. Spectacular granite formations in the Erongo surround the lodge. With a guide, we set out on foot to discover the boulders, pillars and strange rock formations that make up this stony landscape. The fresh air and the golden colours of dawn make the walk feel somewhat euphoric. Among the possible encounters are the sturdy Derby eland and the graceful bushbuck, the white-fronted hartebeest, warthog, cheetah and mountain zebra. Among the birds are the white-crowned hornbill, the lilac-breasted roller and the crimson-breasted shrike. In these early hours, everyone is busy.

Drive to the Atlantic. Settle in for two nights in old Swakopmund. Around the guesthouse, a beautiful flower garden blooms. The single-storey house opens onto it through wide picture windows and covered terraces. Inside are beige tones, natural and soft shades, with a few bold colours to create contrast. A calm balance. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Very pleasant places to enjoy. The common areas are no exception. The breakfast buffet is generous. It’s the perfect place to recharge your energy and positive spirit before starting the day. The owners are ready to go out of their way to help you during your stay. This adds an extra touch of charm to the already pleasant layout of the place.

Swakopmund, a small German town with unspoiled Belle Époque charm. Today, it serves as a smart seaside resort. Among the landmark buildings are the Lutheran Church from 1911, the old barracks from 1906 - flanking the Prinzessin-Rupprecht-Heim, a former Art Nouveau military hospital from 1902 - and the Hohenzollernhaus, built between 1904 and 1906 in the Neo-Baroque style. You can also see the Welwitschia mirabilis, an ancient two-leafed plant from the arid coast, shown on the country’s coat of arms with the fish eagle and the oryx; some living specimens are over 1,000 years old
. Already planned - Sandwich Harbour. South of Walvis Bay, Sandwich Harbour is made up of a bay and a lagoon, separated by a strip of white sand. What strikes you first are the tall dunes dropping steeply towards the blue of the sea. Whalers and sealers once frequented this place, but today it is a Ramsar site: flamingos, pelicans, terns and cormorants make the most of it, wings beating all around. This is a photographer’s paradise. The tour is accompanied by a guide.

Drive to the Namib Desert. Check in for a two-night stay in a private reserve. The light transforms the ochre base of the landscape in surprising ways, shifting from grey to pink. The view reaches far. Your chalet, with solar-powered electricity and hot water, is comfortable and has a contemporary bush style. The common areas are gathered in a large cottage (its architecture inspired by colonial farmhouses). Among other things, you’ll find the dining room, where meals become warm moments of social connection. Many of the ingredients come from the farm itself. And the chefs are in charge. Outside, the pool and its shaded surroundings are a real source of well-being.
Optional - Hot air balloon ride over the Namib.

Via Sesriem, you enter Namib-Naukluft National Park, the largest park in Africa: 49,768 km² (19,215 square miles), slightly larger than Slovakia. Outside the Atlantic fringe, aridity is widespread - in some areas, it is almost absolute. Flora and fauna here have developed survival techniques, some of which interest leading sectors of human industry. While Rüppell’s korhaan lives a typical lifespan for a korhaan, the gemsbok has a high-tech thermoregulation system. As for the Stenocara gracilipes beetle, its system for capturing moisture from the air interests researchers at MIT. The Sossusvlei area, a salt pan in the sand desert, is renowned for its sea of dunes. These, made up of orange sand that beautifully reflects the light, reach heights of 300 metres (984 feet) and more. Acacia trees, which act like real drilling wells, draw water from dozens of metres or feet deep. This landscape is unparalleled and easy to reach by car.

Drive to Windhoek. Car drop-off. Night in the eastern part of Windhoek. If you are looking for an example of modern African fashion elegance, you will find plenty to satisfy you here. The buildings are harmonious; they are also clever. The decor strikes a skilful balance between shapes and natural materials, with a keen sense of style. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The cuisine gives a truly positive impression of Namibian culinary art. Every meal is a treat. In the garden, you’ll find a swimming pool and shaded spots. Guests can also book massages. In short, the house is the ideal place to take a break before continuing your activities.

Transfer to the airport and assistance. Flight to Victoria Falls. Night in a peaceful neighbourhood. The house is slightly hidden among the trees. Classic contemporary architecture with beautiful curved volumes. The rooms are thoughtfully equipped; you’ll find the artisanal touches and bursts of colour that enliven all decor by Brigette Straw. Breakfast is served on site. The pride of the hotel is undoubtedly the rooftop bar, with its large terrace. Enjoying a cocktail above the canopy, with the blue-silver ribbon of the river not far away, is an experience you won’t soon forget. <
A walk takes you to the falls. Here, the river offers one of the most majestic sights you will ever see. The Devil’s Falls are narrow and gushing; the Main Falls drop a heavy white curtain into the void; then come the Horseshoe Falls and Rainbow Falls, the tallest. The narrowness of the gorges intensifies the effects and heightens the feelings. The pervasive humidity sustains dense vegetation along the banks: afzelia, ebony, ivory palm and wild date palms stand out against the mopane savanna. Walkways have been built so visitors can get close to the phenomenon. There are, of course, numerous hiking opportunities in the area.
Optional - A sunset cruise on the Zambezi; a helicopter flight over the falls.

Transfer to Kasane, Botswana. Air taxi to the Khwai region in the Okavango Delta. Stay for two nights on the edge of Moremi Game Reserve. The camp comprises a few canvas tents set on platforms. In your private space, you enjoy remarkable comfort and a classic safari atmosphere - the kind that makes you dream of this type of journey: natural tones, materials more refined than they first appear, and elegant simplicity. The wetroom is quite pleasant. The mess and lounge tent offers a good place to eat and enjoy the essential social interactions that make a stay in the bush a success: it’s obligatory to express your feelings and share points of view. A pool invites guests to unwind. And a nearby watering hole invites animals to quench their thirst.

Already on your itinerary - Safari. Observation outings take place in the morning and in the evening. These are the times when the air is mild and, as a result, wildlife is more active. You travel in a converted vehicle or by mokoro canoe on the Khwai River, accompanied by rangers. They know the layout of the reserve and the animals’ habits inside out. They always take you to the best spots. The hippos here have benefited from royal protection. You can also spot buffalo and elephant, black rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, impala, warthog, lion and wild dog. The beautiful lechwe. Water encourages gatherings. The Okavango Delta is a truly unique environment, rich and often seemingly untouched. It leaves you with the feeling of the world’s first morning. And that’s what you share over a drink when you get back.

Air taxi to Maun. Flight to Johannesburg and flight back. Night on board, arrival the next day.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Sesriem - Above the Namib Desert by hot air balloon

Early morning take-off for one hour of desert exploration from above. As day breaks, the vast mineral landscape is bathed in a pearly pink hue. Silence reigns supreme up here, disturbed only by the occasional whoosh of the burner. Nobody speaks. These are truly precious moments to savour. Back on land, conversations start up again as everyone begins to share their impressions over a champagne breakfast.

Victoria Falls - On the Zambezi at sunset

This evening mini-cruise (on a boat carrying up to 30 people) promises a delightful palette of African hues. The water turns every shade of copper, as birds pass over like black shadow puppets. Mammals come to drink at the riverbanks. And here you are, in the middle of it all, drink in hand, enjoying this unique spectacle in a most natural way.

Victoria Falls - Helicopter flight over the falls

The cascades are awe-inspiring when viewed from the land. But from the sky, their full expanse and power are revealed in a completely different way. And especially, this is the only way to appreciate the zigzagging formation of the gorges. Helicopter is the ideal means of transport for this, allowing you to change viewpoint with great flexibility. Your flight passes over the falls and makes a foray into Zambezi National Park: a wonderful spectacle!

Add a few extra days - Johannesburg and Gandhi House

Since we're stopping in Johannesburg, why not visit South Africa’s most creative city? First, drop off your luggage at the Satyagraha House in the suburb of Orchards, where Gandhi lived between 1908 and 1911. It is now a museum dedicated this historic figure and a guesthouse committed to reflecting the principles that nourished the development of the future Mahatma. The rooms, bright and simply decorated (two of them open directly into the museum area), are comfortable without being overly indulgent. The delicious, restorative vegetarian cuisine, the historical Kraal of Hermann Kallenbach, and the contemporary building by Rocco Bosman each bring their own touch to the spirit of openness and peace that inspired one of the great political movements of the 20th century.
