  • Opulence and vibrancy in Istanbul, road trip and enchanting landscapes in Cappadocia
  • Experience Istanbul like a local and discover off the beaten path Cappadocia: all planned and in private!
  • Mobile app with GPS, Wi-Fi, our recommendations, on-site Concierge service: the extra Voyageurs touch
Each of Istanbul's landmarks - Topkapi and Dolmabahçe Palaces, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Süleymaniye Mosque would easily justify the trip on its own. And then there is the city’s vibrant life, straddling two continents and stretching along the Asian and European shores of the Bosphorus. Istanbul is a cosmopolitan and contemporary, city that still celebrates the timeless pleasures that make life here a joy: baths, bazaars, taverns, Ottoman cuisine, pleasure architecture, and the grandeur of its setting. The presence of contemporary art galleries, techno clubs or flashy shopping malls only serves to strengthen the city’s long-standing spirit of exchange and curiosity. Even without realising it, Istanbul becomes woven into the way we perceive the world. Cappadocia is a distant, spectacular and slightly strange world. Ürgüp makes a striking first impression with its ancient cave dwellings perched on its high cliff. These remnants of another era, along with its geological formations shaped by volcanic activity, are symbols of the city and its region. You will not forget the splendour of the illuminated Byzantine churches in Göreme National Park.. From western Turkey to the heart of the country, the minarets of Istanbul’s mosques and the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia seem to mirror each other, giving this journey a remarkable sense of unity.

Your trip

Both your hotels have the qualities you would expect from well-designed and well-managed hotel establishments, but they also capture the spirit of their locations - urban and trendy in Istanbul; dramatically situated and carved into the rock in Ürgüp. Each one truly embodies the identity of the city and of Cappadocia. A direct flight takes you from Istanbul to Cappadocia. Istanbul’s transport system offers a whole range of answers to the question “How do we get there?” and is an essential part of life on the Bosphorus. In Cappadocia, a rental car gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace. The local road network presents no particular difficulties, and with a little attention you will quickly adapt to local driving habits. Going out in Istanbul with a local essentially gives you the means to do what you want, with an extra touch of insight and personality that your guide brings. The off the beaten path Cappadocia discovery day, with a private guide, offers a detailed overview of this region filled with many unexpected treasures. If, along the way, an unexpected whim or a minor setback arises, you have the contact details of our on-site Concierge service to assist you promptly. This person, in coordination with your travel specialist, can also help adjust your trip as it unfolds, depending on your wishes.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Private transfer and three-night stay in the vibrant heart of Galata. Your hotel is made up of two different properties. One of them is imbued with a neoclassical style inherited from the Camondo family, a renowned Jewish family from Istanbul. Your room, designed to reflect the richness of this building dating back to the late 19th century, skilfully blends contemporary luxury with delightfully retro charm. Two restaurants, nestled on a panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, along with a wine cellar, complete the distinctly local experience.

Scheduled - Istanbul in the footsteps of a local. Rather than a guided tour, this is a meeting with a person and a city. Here is a young man in his thirties, passionate about cooking, art and geopolitics. A cultivated representative of the new face of Istanbul, this ancient city that the last half-century has brought into the era of globalisation without losing its essence. Nothing is planned in advance; you agree on a meeting time and location, have a conversation about interests and questions, then fall into step with the rhythm of the people of Istanbul. Your local friend knows how to combine the most authentic Istanbul experience with your interests, curiosities and desires. In his company, contrasts, paradoxes and changes become clearer, and you feel a little adopted. It's also a great opportunity to pick up valuable tips for your solo explorations

. Optional - Meal with a local.

Your hotel is at the heart of the action. The city’s iconic attractions - the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace - are all within walking distance. Once you're settled in, you set out to explore a city that’s a little less disorienting but still surprising. While strolling, you never miss the chance to have tea, nibble a perfectly spiced skewer, savour some fish, a pinch of hazelnuts or raisins, some olives or Turkish delight. There are inns and restaurants everywhere. Well-established cosmopolitanism has given Istanbul’s culinary repertoire remarkable variety and vibrancy. Its status as a capital has added refinement and an eye for meticulous presentation. And then there are the hammams, the music (Ottoman classical, Türk halk müzigi, Sufi semâ), the bazaars, and more. Istanbul awakens all the senses.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Kayseri. Pick up the rental car and head to Cappadocia. Three-night stay in the heart of Ürgüp. Perched on the hillside, on one of its best-preserved streets, overlooking the bustle of the old town below, your accommodation brings a contemporary touch to the region’s traditional architectural style. A stone-carved cocoon, radiating a profound serenity — the perfect place for the mind to drift and unwind.

A small troglodyte town with origins dating back to Roman times, Ürgüp developed under the influence of Turkey’s Greek community between the 19th and 20th centuries. Even though it has willingly adapted to the contours of the modern world, the splendour of Cappadocia’s traditional architectural style - embodied in particular by its Byzantine rock-hewn churches - remains tangible. Urgüp embodies a living tapestry, where centuries merge. The soul of the region is also expressed by its famous Cappadocian wine - a true treasure of the local terroir.
Optional - Hot air balloon flight over Cappadocia; horse riding; Anatolian cooking class.

Already scheduled - Off the beaten path in Cappadocia. Cappadocia's heritage is shaped by mineral fortresses, underground towns and rock-hewn chapels. This diversity is also reflected in landscapes that shift between lunar landscapes and breathtaking panoramas. The day begins in the small town of Mustafapasa (formerly Sinasos), where you wander among Greek Orthodox churches, mosques and typical stone houses - symbols of the blending of Balkan and Anatolian cultures. The itinerary continues with a visit to Keslik Monastery, about 10 km (6 miles) from there, built - or rather carved into the rock - in the 13th century. Beneath a centuries-old patina, preserved frescoes emerge, illuminated by the flicker of torchlight. From there, the journey continues to the Soganli Valley, renowned for its hundreds of rock-cut churches and whimsical fairy chimneys. The day reaches its peak (paradoxically) with the exploration of the monumental underground city of Derinkuyu, buried 85 metres (279 feet) below the earth’s surface. Spanning eighteen levels, this ancient city, which seems straight out of Tolkien’s tales, was built to shelter a population of 20,000. Here, the word “monumental” truly comes to life.

Drive to Kayseri and return the car at the airport. Return flight via Istanbul.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Meal with locals in Istanbul

Turkish cuisine is among the richest in the world, shaped by the flavours of the many provinces of the former Ottoman Empire - from the Balkans and Greece, to Anatolia and the Caucasus, and across the Middle East. A stay in Turkey is always a culinary experience, made even more rewarding when shared with locals. Over the course of a meal, Hayati welcomes you into his home in the Cihangir district. A unique opportunity to savour Turkey’s signature dishes while enjoying breathtaking views of the Bosphorus.

In a hot air balloon over Cappadocia

The hot air balloons seem right at home in the sky over Cappadocia. Perhaps it’s because there is something truly special about this place. So, why not go and see for yourself? Set off early in the morning to enjoy not only a sense of truly imperial tranquillity, but also the colours of dawn stretching across the landscape. You'll soar for a good hour at a gentle altitude. It’s not about thrills or vertigo but about gaining a new perspective on the rock formations, villages and sights below. Up there, everything is seen in a whole new light. On the ground, a certificate and a glass of champagne await the balloonists..

Horse riding in Cappadocia

This horse ride invites you to take in the distinctive landscapes of Cappadocia, their colours shifting as the hours pass. Comfortably sitting in the saddle, you ride through lunar landscapes and valleys painted in shades of pink and red, and sculpted over millennia by volcanic forces.

Anatolian cookery class

Nestled on the outskirts of the charming village of Ayvali, just a short distance from Ürgüp, you’ll be greeted warmly by an Anatolian family. These generous hosts invite you into their world, enthusiastically sharing the secrets of their cuisine. With their expert tips, you set about preparing traditional Anatolian dishes, then share them around a joyful table. You experience an authentic immersion in the heart of the region’s culture and culinary art.
