Itinerary highlights

  • After the entertainment of Saint Martin, fly away to the tranquillity of the British Virgin Islands, an original paradise
  • Prime location, intimate atmosphere, pool, sea or hillside views - our selection of enchanting hotels
  • Scheduled: two private excursions to experience the essence of each island - the best of Saint Martin and paddleboarding through the mangroves of Tortola
  • Carbon absorption, VIP lounge at the airport, on-site assistance, rental car in Saint Martin, our recommendations: travel with Voyageurs.
Half French, half Dutch, Saint-Martin is altogether astonishing. Conversations unfold here in French, English, and Creole - Guadeloupean, Martinican, and Haitian. The island is a cosmopolitan melting pot where everyone seems to feel at home. Sunshine all year round, white sandy beaches and turquoise seas make this small piece of land floating in the Caribbean Sea irresistibly welcoming. You spend the first part of your trip there - a delightful introduction to Caribbean culture. Or at least, one of its variations. A short hop by plane is all it takes to reachthe British Virgin Islands, a little further north. Settle in the northwest of Tortola, the largest island in the archipelago, which still offers true tranquillity once you leave the capital, Road Town. Here, life unfolds at a new tempo, even more indolent, as nature gently sets the rhythm. Wake up with the sunrise, head to the beach for a first swim, savour fresh fruit, and set out to explore Sage Mountain and its national park. Venture deep into the ancient forests, then return to the coastal path, leave behind your shoes and clothes, and dive once again into the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. The next day, after a grilled lobster lunch, hop on a paddleboard to explore the mangroves and, perhaps later, set off on a cruise bathed in the golden light of sunset. A waking dream.

Your selected retreats

In Saint-Martin - Your pied-à-terre has only a few rooms, preserving each guest’s privacy. Yours is a deluxe suite with its own kitchen and a breathtaking view of the sea. Vivid colours, Guyanese redwood, fine materials and gleaming polished concrete make the interiors remarkable, all the more so since every piece of furniture has been crafted on site. From the terrace, you look out over the bay. All that's left to do is slip into the hammock or the teak armchairs to admire the panorama. Later, a kayak or boat will take you to Pinel Island.
In Tortola  - You will be staying between the beach and the hills, in an elegant hotel with bright, comfortable rooms. Pilates, yoga, tennis, swimming pool, massages, outdoor cinema, feet-in-the-sand restaurant. There are numerous facilities and activities on offer, and the team is exceptionally attentive. All of this facing one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

Your trip

No need to set sail to reach the Virgin Islands - this trip illustrates this perfectly. Departure from Saint Martin - which can be reached via a direct flight - you can easily fly to Tortola via Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport. From there, you are less than one hour's drive from the hotel, even though it is on the other side of the island. On Saint Martin, you have a rental car at your disposal, allowing you to explore at your leisure, as this island with its rich history and vibrant, mixed culture truly deserves to be discovered. With this in mind, we have added a half-day with a private guide to your agenda who will be delighted to show you their island at its best and share its history with you. In Tortola, you have an appointment with another true local expert who will reveal the secrets of the mangrove, a precious ecosystem that you will explore by paddleboard for the occasion. For the rest of the trip, you will be free to improvise according to your mood, as boredom is never a threat in paradise.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed, pick up your rental car and settle in for four nights on the heights of Cul-de-Sac, facing Pinel Island. There are only six rooms, all spacious, modern and unique suites - yours has a sea view - each with every desirable amenity, including a small kitchen and a Caribbean-style shower. Bright colours, Guyanese redwood, fine materials, gleaming polished concrete and custom-made furniture crafted on site. You’d swear a top designer had worked here. From the terrace, surrounded by tropical flowers, you’ll overlook the bay; all that remains is to slip into the pool, the hammock or a teak armchair to admire the view. Later, a kayak or the accommodation’s boat will be waiting to take you across to Pinel islet. Quite a programme.

On your itinerary - A visit to the island’s highlights, in private. Saint Martin is unique in that it is divided in two, with two different nationalities living side by side. In the south of the island, on the Dutch side, Anglo-American influence dominates. Casinos and hotel-resorts dot the coastline. On the French side, by contrast, the mood is more languid. There are many beaches there, and they are wilder. Over half a day, you’ll explore this land - its beaches, landscapes, historical sites and monuments - with a guide who gladly shares their knowledge and our recommendations.

Of course, many water activities are possible near the accommodation. And the diving and sailing are real highlights. For everything else, you’ll have a car. It’s the most convenient way to explore Saint Martin and its beaches: lively ocean energy in the east, laid-back Caribbean atmosphere in the west.
What to see and do - Dive into the nature reserve with its crystal-clear waters, home to corals, gorgonians, leopard rays, angelfish, barracudas and dolphins; in Marigot, admire the old houses and Fort Louis (18th century), which offers a breathtaking view over the bay; stroll through the hills.
Optional - A day on a catamaran with swimming breaks.

Not to be missed - Food and strolls in Grand-Case. In the northwest of the island, the charming town of Grand-Case captivates with its Creole architecture, built between the Caribbean Sea and the island’s largest salt pond. But the city is also one of the best ambassadors for local cuisine. One of the best places to try it is the array of restaurants set just a few steps from the golden sandy beach. At the forefront, the terraces of traditional lolos spill out over the cobblestones. In the background, there are gourmet establishments listed in the Gault & Millau guide. What they all share is a passion for upholding Grand-Case’s reputation as the “culinary capital of the Caribbean”. You can take a walk to digest along the town’s only street, lined with traditional wooden houses wrapped in fragrant hibiscus. And if you are lucky enough to be in town on a Tuesday evening in February, March or April, you will have the privilege of attending the grand Saint Martin craft market - the island’s artistic and culinary gathering.

You’ll drive to the airport, return the rental car and fly to Beef Island, the gateway to the British Virgin Islands. Next you’ll have a private transfer to your accommodation on the west side of Tortola Island, where you’ll settle in for three nights. Nestled between a postcard-perfect beach and sun-drenched hills, the establishment welcomes guests into bright, airy rooms with natural materials such as wood and straw, which blend seamlessly with their natural setting. Every day, the entire hotel team goes out of their way to delight guests, whatever their wishes. You can start the day with a yoga or Pilates class before heading to the tennis court, relax in one of the cabañas lining the beach, book a massage and end the day with an outdoor cinema session. A little hungry? The pool and the beach each have their own snack bar. As for the restaurant, it sits sheltered within an old 18th-century refinery, welcoming guests just steps from the sand. You can also set out to find other options along the beach.

Not to be missed - Hike in Sage Mountain National Park. Sage Mountain, the first national park in the British Virgin Islands, is named after the highest point in the archipelago (520 metres) and marks the beginning of conservation initiatives in the territory. The farmland was reforested, mainly with mahogany trees, while other secondary species have regenerated naturally. An entire mahogany trail was even named after Joseph Reynold O’Neal, the founder and first president of the National Parks Trust. The imposing rocks and ancient forests on the north side of the park stand in stark contrast to the old pastures and remnants of dry tropical forest on the south side. From the summit, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the entire archipelago. - Optional - Private sunset cruise.

Scheduled: a paddleboarding trip in the mangroves, inprivate . Accompanied by a guide, you’ll glide over the calm waters of Secret Lagoon - a mangrove and precious ecosystem, vital for many animal and plant species. During the walk, there are planned swimming breaks.
Things to do and see
 - Relax on the beach; head out to sea for a while and enjoy some snorkelling breaks; visit Tortola’s craft brewery, where fermentation tanks stand in a row, then sample the different beers on tap; take time for a morning yoga session or an evening massage; hike along the island’s trails.

Private return transfer to Beef Island airport and international return flight via Saint Martin. Night on board, arrival the next day.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

For a day…

.... Anguilla

From Saint Martin, Anguilla can be reached in less than 30 minutes by boat. In fact, it’s the best way to get there. This small island delights travellers seeking privacy. More than thirty beaches are scattered along its coast, some stretching for several kilometres or miles, others more secluded and isolated. For snorkelling enthusiasts, a mask and snorkel are all you need to explore the seabed, where colourful corals and multicoloured fish thrive.

... Saint-Barthélemy

A short hop is all it takes to reach the island of Saint Barthélemy from Saint Martin. White sand, languorously leaning coconut palms, turquoise sea, 28 degrees all year round, and some of the best restaurants in the region. A cocktail that promises memorable times. Because scenic routes are especially well-suited to driving a convertible, you will have a convertible at your disposal for the day. With the wind in your hair, explore the island at your own pace.

... Catamaran cruise around Saint Martin

Swap the rental car and lounging on the sand for a boat trip around Saint Martin - an opportunity to get close to the surrounding islands, cool off in tropical waters, discover the reefs with fins, masks and snorkels, or treat yourself to a deep-sea fishing session if you are an enthusiast.

And with a few more days…

... Cooper Island

A tiny piece of land located south of Beef Island, Cooper Island is home to only one hotel. Self-sufficient in electricity and water, the establishment was built with ecology as its foremost concern. In the rooms, light streams in easily through large picture windows, while the decor remains understated and elegant. They all open onto the Sir Francis Drake Channel and the neighbouring islands. The owners have also opened a microbrewery, with part of the profits donated to the conservation of sea turtles.

Virgin Gorda

In 1958, Laurance Rockefeller purchased a large piece of land on Virgin Gorda after setting eyes on a bay on the island’s southwest coast. He had a hotel complex built there, where Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip came to rest. In 2017, Hurricane Irma swept through the Caribbean. The eye of the storm struck the hotel. A major renovation was required. This new version offers an idyllic balance with surrounding nature. In the rooms, you'll find clean lines, an earthy colour palette, exposed stone walls, plenty of driftwood, outdoor showers, and a sense of spaciousness. All are just a few steps from the beach. The various restaurants source their fruit and vegetables directly from the establishment’s kitchen garden and offer delicious dishes to be enjoyed, feet in the sand. A butler is also at your full disposal from your arrival until your departure.
