  • The slow pace, boat crossings, and sophisticated accommodation at every stop on your journey
  • Full day with a private guide in Angkor, an Angkor Pass to continue exploring, and street food and street art in Phnom Penh are already included!
  • Portable Wi-Fi, mobile app, great recommendations, on site Concierge: the extra Voyageurs touch
Cambodia is a captivating country, and Cambodians’ reputation for kindness is well-deserved. These are just two excellent reasons for going on this magnificent trip. And then there is Angkor, emerging like a jewel in the heart of the jungle. It is a lost city where dense vegetation has partially reclaimed its place: one of those achievements that embody the very idea of human civilisation through their artistic, spiritual and cultural value. If you can ignore the tourists (ask your travel specialist about off-peak periods) then imagine you are an adventurer, exploring these ancient ruins for the first time. So the trip begins in Siem Reap - “Angkor City” in a sense. In their natural setting, the Khmer temples take on their true dimensions. Spend three full days exploring the archaeological site off the beaten path, marvelling at its treasures and witnessing the return of devotions in the great sanctuaries. Next, take a break at Koh Rong (Rong Island) in the Gulf of Thailand, off Sihanoukville. The island has all you could wish for in a tropical paradise, but it has not yet attracted the hordes. So, make the most of it, by slowing the pace and enjoying the beach vibe. Finally, arrive in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh, where the weight of the past is palpable - from the French Indochina era to the Pol Pot dictatorship. Today, the youth and dynamism of the country are clearly visible here, making the city an excellent exit (or entry) point for your trip. It’s enough to make you want to come back again!

Your Trip

Get around by travelling in private cars with a driver - and air-conditioning, of course! In addition, there will be a necessary flight between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, and two boat crossings. These smooth logistics are well-suited to the location. The Cambodian modernism of your hotel is an original touch that adds to the atmosphere of your trip. Each property offers a welcoming sanctuary where you can recover from tiredness and get ready for the next day’s adventures. Even the beach is in keeping with the theme of contemporary sophistication. We have also included tours with a private guide in your itinerary. In Angkor, of course, a few pointers may deepen your appreciation of the site. Travel with your guide by tuk-tuk, and the rest of the time, carry on exploring on your own with the Angkor Pass. You can’t go wrong on Koh Rong - you won’t need a guide to find the white sand! On the other hand, in Phnom Penh, your guide will help you get a true taste for the city’s street art and street food. And if you have any concerns or last-minute requests along the way, you’ll have the contact details of our on-site Con site Concierge to assist you. They can also work with your travel specialist to make any desired changes to your trip along the way.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Night on board, arrival the next day.

Private transfer. Stay for three nights in a hotel which - like so many here - sits in a garden, features contemporary local craftsmanship, and serves market-fresh cuisine. Unlike many, though, it doesn't attempt a "rustic" aesthetic, instead embracing a reassuringly urban feel. The lines are clean and well balanced, and the angular pool only adds to this appeal. Spaces are well-defined, and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The spa treatments offered by the establishment are deeply restorative. This isn't a place that chases picturesque charm at any cost - and it's all the better for it. Your room is available as soon as you arrive.
Optional - Tonlé Sap Lake at sunset.

Already included - the Angkor Pass, giving access to the attractions of the Angkor archaeological site, as well as Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea to the north-east; Banteay Samré to the east; and the Roluos complex to the south-east.
In your itinerary - Private tour of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. You explore these two great landmarks of the former capital of the Khmer Empire by tuk-tuk (motorised tricycle), accompanied by a private guide. Built in the 12th century, Angkor Wat - the temple-capital of Suryavarman II - is the largest and best preserved monument on the site. Archaeologists from renowned universities have done remarkable work here. The statuary is superb. Buddhist worship continues in the sanctuary (which was originally dedicated to Vishnu). Jayavarman VII built the royal city of Angkor Thom in the early 13th century. The immense sculpted faces of the South Gate are unforgettable; the naturalism of the Bayon’s bas-reliefs, at the city’s heart, is striking; and the Terrace of the Leper King was probably used for royal cremations.
Optional - Treasure hunt at Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm; Phare Ponleu Selpak circus.

After exploring the temples, Siem Reap stands out as an essential stop for an authentic immersion in provincial Cambodian life. Here, the experience unfolds between generous tables brimming with exquisite flavours and inspiring encounters with artists and craftspeople. The lively and colourful old market comes to life with the footsteps of locals and travellers alike. At nightfall, other craft and souvenir markets come to life, inviting you to take a leisurely night stroll. Here, you can get to grips with Cambodia's abundant street food, eaten on-the-go. And how could we not mention the stilt village of Kampong Phluk, built above Tonlé Sap Lake just a few miles south, offering a glimpse of local life on the water?
Optional - Kulen Elephant Sanctuary; countryside around Siem Reap by tuk-tuk.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Sihanoukville. Transfer to the port, then crossing to Koh Rong. Stay for three nights on a real-life white-sand beach. The sky and sea seem bluer, the palms greener. A few palapas cast bell-shaped patches of shade. The infinity pool gives bathers the horizon - though you might just as well head straight out to dive in the sea. Modern bungalows sit discreetly beneath their thatched roofs. The immaculate rooms could feel austere; instead, they’re simple and open, needing only a natural touch to warm the décor. Outdoor showers add to the sense of wellbeing. The beachfront restaurant stays true to the spirit of fusion, serving a delicious interpretation, perfectly suited to the setting. What more could you want from this paradise-like setting?

This is hardly the place for a frantic pace. The beach stretching out in front of the hotel sets the tone for slow, easy days. Koh Rong’s four villages live mainly from fishing and forestry. The island’s interior is cloaked in deep, luxuriant jungle, and the terrain gives rise to a few lively waterfalls. There’s treetop adventure too. You can also hire scooters to tour the island’s beaches - some twenty or so, each with its own character - and enjoy a range of water-based activities, including paddle boarding, sea kayaking, windsurfing and more. Because the sand is so pale (ranging from white to beige, sometimes even pink), the water is wonderfully clear. Diving and snorkelling are obvious highlights. As for the bioluminescent plankton, it can be seen at night in areas free from light pollution.

Crossing back to Sihanoukville, then transfer to Phnom Penh. Stay for two nights in a plant-covered concrete building whose contemporary style stands out in a hotel district where vintage and nostalgia seem to rule. Here, the commitment to modernity is clear. The lower pool is nestled in a green courtyard, while the upper pool puts your head among the high-rises. In between, you'll find international-standard facilities and a bright, welcoming aesthetic. Guest rooms are well equipped, comfortable and functional. The rooftop bar is a standout. The restaurant serves excellent seafood (handled with respect by Thai chefs). Floor-to-ceiling windows open the dining room to the outside. The wellness area includes a spa - offering top-quality treatments - and a fitness room.

Raised to the status of capital under French Indochina - when it earned the flattering nickname “Pearl of Asia” - Phnom Penh has since lived through a turbulent history, echoing that of the country, marked in particular by the Khmer Rouge dictatorship. Yet little by little it is recovering its old charm, while embracing a decidedly modern energy. Today, the city is buzzing. An ever-moving swarm of tuk-tuks, scooters and motorbikes may be surprising at first, but it has its own kind of charm: the feel of a city that’s full of life.
In your itinerary - Morning street food and street art tour of Phnom Penh, by tuk-tuk. Through this enticing perspective, the city can be enjoyed in a new light, unveiling lesser-known, vividly coloured neighbourhoods. The outing is punctuated by a typical breakfast and tasty stops at local stalls to sample delicious Khmer pastries.
Optional - Phnom Penh, like a local.

You keep your room until late in the day. Transfer to the airport and return flight. Night on board, arrival the next day.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Siem Reap - Tonlé Sap Lake at Sunset

The largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, Tonlé Sap plays a key role in naturally regulating the Mekong River. The village houses are built on tall stilts, as the water level can rise and fall several metres. This life on stilts, where everything depends on the river, resembles another time and another world. The lake provides inhabitants with an abundance of fish. It also supports a rich birdlife, including the spot-billed pelican, Oriental darter, and Bengal florican. Tonlé Sap has been designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Cruise its waters at dusk when they turn red-orange in the sunset and the air is filled with a potently romantic aura.
Optional

Siem Reap Countryside by Tuk-Tuk

This tuk-tuk excursion through countryside around Siem Reap will introduce you to an authentic, rural side to Cambodia. Gain an intimate insight into the daily life of its inhabitants. Admire the scenery along the way, as you pass paddy fields, farms and villages. Stop to meet a family who make rice noodles and learn more about the production process of this traditional food. It’s a staple ingredient in many dishes, including the famous num banh chok, which you can sample on this tour. The excursion ends with another visit, this time to a village of sugar palm producers. The sugar palm tree is an iconic feature of the Cambodian landscape and is used for many varied - sometimes surprising! - purposes.
Optional

Phnom Penh - Like a Local

Our expat guide knows all there is to know about Phnom Penh! He’s been living there for years and is familiar with the streets, palaces, trendy bars, art galleries, markets, gyms, restaurants, pagodas, churches and the Cambodian people themselves! So, there’s no need to create an itinerary in advance. Just get in touch, discuss about a few ideas, interests, and things you want to see or do, then follow his lead. He’ll make sure you find what you are looking for and more. Along the way, he’ll point out what the ordinary traveller might miss and a native Cambodian guide might not think to show you. The perfect balance between two cultures, he knows just what makes things click! He is also a valuable source of information for the rest of your trip.
Optional

Make it a Family Affair

This introduction to Cambodia can just as easily be experienced as a family. With its impressive historical sites and vast natural playgrounds, the country certainly has something for everyone, both young and old. Immerse yourself in history and become an adventurer for a day with an exciting treasure hunt through the Khmer temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm; take in a show at Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus, a Cambodian organisation founded by survivors of the Khmer genocide, working to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds; or meet the elephants at the Kulen Reserve, where these giant animals who once carried tourists now enjoy their well-earned retirement in Bos Thom Community Forest. What better way to make wonderful memories of spending time together?
