This stunning itinerary takes you to three countries in two weeks. It’s important not to get too distracted; a clear plan is a must. And that’s exactly what this trip offers. It focuses on major sites and keeps up the pace without being exhausting, as experiences are meant to be relished and then given time to settle. Starting in Hanoi, you’ll discover one of the best vibes on the peninsula in this rapidly developing capital city. The next sight, still within the Red River Delta, is the splendid karst landscape of Vân Long Nature Reserve and Ninh Binh, known as “Halong Bay on Land”. Tu Long Bay is a Halong Bay lookalike (just less crowded), which you’ll explore aboard a real junk. A quick flight then transports you to Siem Reap. It’s a World Heritage Site, of course! Khmer civilisation is manifested in the grandeur of its temple-cities and the poignant return of its devotions. The mood then shifts, as a whirlwind of motorbikes, gilded Chinatown, gleaming skyscrapers and shopping malls signal your arrival in Bangkok. After exploring the khlongs, it is time to head south to Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea. Koh Yao Noi remains a peaceful island, where inhabitants fish and grow pineapples. Spend three days here by the water, enjoying outstanding facilities in an exceptional location. Pass the time enjoying a gentle way of life made all the more special by your memories of the previous stops.

Your Trip

From a retro hotel in the historic centre of Hanoi to a bungalow looking out to sea on Koh Yao Noi, your accommodation will surprise you with its appropriateness, comfort and charm. Southeast Asia has developed a range and quality of hotels that is worthy of its legendary hospitality. Your nights are not pointless gaps in your journey; they play an essential role and contribute hugely to your enjoyment overall. Meanwhile, the cruise in Bai Tu Long Bay is a truly unique experience. An itinerary of this kind requires careful planning, so we have made every effort to ensure everything is at the right level: flights to cover long distances; air-conditioned car with driver for medium distances; and tuk-tuk, bicycle or boat for short trips. The right approach saves time, which is precious when you’re travelling, and helps everything go smoothly. The excursions we have added to your travel booklet take you straight to the essentials: Ha Long Bay on Land, the temples of Angkor, the Like a Local experiences in Hanoi and Bangkok, cycling through the Siem Reap countryside, and exploring Phang Nga Bay by boat. Would you like to add on street food tours or Tonlé Sap Lake? Just let us know. And if you have any concerns or last-minute requests along the way, you’ll have the contact details of our on site Concierge to assist you quickly and efficiently.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Night on board, arrival the following day.

Transfer. Stay for two nights in the historic centre of Hanoi. The hotel's white facade belies its classic charm and Indochinese inspiration. Its spa offers treatments to sooth your body and mind, a welcome treat after a long flight. The restaurant, and its sky bar with 360° view, provides a gentle introduction to Asian flavours.
Optional extra - Street food tour through the old town.

In your itinerary - Hanoi with a local. With an expat who has been living in the city for many years, you set out to explore the secrets of Hanoi. There's no set plan, you just meet and have a chat and aim to do things like the Vietnamese do, as much as you can. Since your guide knows the city and its people inside out, you encounter them as they really are and according to what piques your interest. The streets, squares and parks offer plenty to satisfy the curiosity of urban wanderers. This walk is also a great opportunity to gather valuable information for the rest of your journey.

In your itinerary - Private tour of the area around Halong Bay. Certainly less well-known than the waters of the bay itself, the area around Halong Bay is no less spectacular but much less crowded. After a generous lunch with a local family, your exploration begins with a bike ride along the Boi River. At Van Long, the landscape shaped by rice fields and rocky outcrops is ideal for a lovely boat ride. You finally arrive in Ninh Binh, where the Dinh and Le Temples were built.
Stay for one night in a beautiful garden, surrounded by plateaus and limestone peaks. The hotel buildings are constructed in a traditional style but feature modern amenities. There's an indoor pool, outdoor pool, fitness room, organic restaurant and spa. As well as being comfortable, the rooms are spacious and full of natural light. The overall effect is harmonious and brings a sense of calm to the day.

In your itinerary - Bai Tu Long Bay cruise on a junk. Transfer to Hon Gai and board a traditional junk for the night. Its comfortable and sophisticated décor make sailing on a traditional boat even more appealing. The onboard service and amenities are faultless. The boat is very stable and the red lacquered wood of the cabin and its large windows, the deck and the skilful cook, all go to make the cruise thoroughly enjoyable. Bai Tu Long Bay is a bit like Halong Bay, but without the crowds. Erosion has worked the same magic here in sculpting the rocks. The mist forms shapes that look even more fantastical. Visit a cave, a typical karst formation and a fishing village and stop for a short snorkelling session. In the evening, bats flit around the limestone pillars in a lively hunt for insects.

Disembark. Transfer to Hanoi airport and flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Stay for three nights in a hotel arranged around a pleasant pool bordered by greenery. The hotel successfully combines comfort, design and tranquillity. The understated rooms are spacious, the location is slightly removed from the bustle of the city and it's the perfect setting to rest and recharge your batteries. It's a true contemporary haven.

In your itinerary - Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. Visit these two major attractions of the former capital of the Khmer Empire by tuk tuk. Built in the 12th century, Angkor Wat, the temple and capital city of Suryavarman II, is the largest complex in Siem Reap and the best preserved. Archaeologists from the French School of the Far East carried out extensive restoration work here. The temple, which was originally dedicated to Vishnu, still hosts Buddhist ceremonies and rituals. Jayavarman VII had the royal city of Angkor Thom built at the start of the 13th century. The colossal sculpted faces on the South Gate and the naturalistic bas-reliefs of the Bayon, the central temple, will leave a lasting impression on you.

In your itinerary - Private cycling tour of the Siem Reap countryside. This lovely bike ride lets you take a closer look at local daily life. You follow a red dirt track. The landscape rolling past features rice fields, lotus ponds and sugar palms, all the way to Phnom Krom. You can reach the top of the hill on foot using the stairs, or by bike if you're feeling more athletic. From the top, a 360° view opens out over the surrounding countryside.
Optional extra - Sunset cruise on Tonle Sap Lake.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Bangkok in Thailand. Another transfer and stay for two nights in the central Pathum Wan district. The hotel is in a modern building. The décor follows international standards but also skilfully interweaves Thai motifs. There's plenty of wood and leather, and chocolate, tobacco, anthracite, dusty pink and purple tones. In terms of dining, there is a steak house and an Italian restaurant. On the rooftop, the terrace, saltwater pool and bar are truly enticing.
Optional extra - Street food in Chinatown.

In your itinerary - Bangkok with a local. Your guide for the day is passionate about their adopted country and eager to share their discoveries with you. Over the years, they have become a true local. They know the city inside out and can genuinely immerse you in its vibrant atmosphere. Follow them to discover Bangkok as you stroll through its trendy spots, secret neighbourhoods and markets. And above all, chat about daily life in Thailand.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Phuket. Transfer to Koh Yao Noi by private boat. Stay for four nights on the east coast. From the beach, the view out to sea is a bit like Halong Bay. Your Thai-style bungalow, with a thatched palm roof, is wide open to the sea air. Immaculate bedding, handcrafted furniture, polished woodwork and a surprising canopy bed create a chic Robinson Crusoe style interior. At the restaurant, Thai cuisine showcases traditional flavours, with some international touches. As for wellness, there is a spa that celebrates the national tradition of treatments, a long infinity pool, and yoga classes.

To help you get to know your surroundings, the hotel lends out bicycles and kayaks so you can explore by land and sea. That is, if you're prepared to leave the hotel and everything it has to offer. The beach and the crystal-clear water, the hammocks under the coconut trees, and the beautifully kept garden might make you a bit hesitant. It would be a shame though, not to explore the island's interior. With its rainforest, diverse crops and general air of authenticity it is a vibrant place. Kayaking does not require any particular canoeing skills. As long as you paddle, you'll keep moving, and in a setting as beautiful as this, it's well worth the effort.

In your itinerary - Phang Nga Bay by private boat. With an English-speaking guide, you board a traditional longtail boat. This truly beautiful journey takes you past Koh Talu Island, with its natural rock arch and colony of giant bats. You sail between the Ma Kram islets and their small deserted beaches and to the south of Koh Kudu Yai, with its cove enclosed by impressive rocky outcrops. There's plenty of stops for swimming, relaxing and taking photos too.

Transfer to Phuket airport and international return flight, via Bangkok.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Private Tour of Street Food in Hanoi

The best way to explore the route is on foot, as we dive into Old Hanoi. Food stalls appear left and right, one after the other. Mouth-watering aromas entice us over. There are lots of people about, but that doesn’t stop our meandering. Our foodie itinerary takes us to one of Hanoi’s most lively neighbourhoods, where everyone meets to have a bite to eat, drink the local Bia Hoi beer and catch up. Make sure you try banh cuon (Vietnamese rice rolls), banh mi, pho, and the ice cream. It’s an experience that’s well worth the trip.

Private Sunset Sail on Tonlé Sap Lake

The largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia plays a key role in the natural regulation of the Mekong River. The houses here are built on tall stilts, as the water level can rise and fall by several metres. This life on stilts, where everything depends on the river, resembles another time and another world. The lake provides residents with an abundance of fish. Nearly 150 species of fish have been recorded in its waters, including the legendary Mekong giant catfish, which is now strictly protected. It also supports a rich birdlife, including the spot-billed pelican, Oriental darter, and Bengal florican. Tonlé Sap has been designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Against a backdrop of jazz, we set sail at dusk as the waters turn red-orange.

Private Tour of Street Food in Bangkok (Chinatown)

In the alleyways of Yaowarat, the glowing red and yellow signs are a feast for the eyes. Add in the aromas of fried garlic, broth, roast meat and more, wafting from the end-to-end restaurants and market stalls, and you have a feast for the nose too! You’re sure to get very hungry very quickly. As the names of all these dishes are unpronounceable for most visitors, it's helpful have a guide who is familiar with the endless variety of small plates. Your guide will lead you straight to the best, taking your preferences into account.
