Start with a beacon of the modern world, move on to a formidable testament to the past, then collapse happily on an island beach in the Gulf of Thailand. Here’s the plan. Experience the striking contrast between Singapore’s towering Gardens by the Bay, hawker centres, CBD, Chinatown, and British touch on one hand and Cambodia’s wonderful Khmer sculptures, Buddhism revival, and villages on stilts in Siem Reap/Angkor on the other. Asia has come a long way to take its place at the forefront of globalisation. For Angkor is an asset for modern-day Cambodia. And Singaporeans visit temples with as much enthusiasm as they attend kick volleyball matches. The synthesis and creativity of these disparate destinations is impressive. After this tale of two cities, full of emotions and surprises, the new Cambodian Riviera awaits you. It includes the Koh Rong archipelago with Koh Russey (Bamboo Island). Here, nature’s palette combines emerald jungle and turquoise water to create views you’d never tired of. Moreover, as hotel architecture here now embraces new aesthetic and environmental standards, your accommodation achieves a beautiful balance. From swimming and snorkeling to forest walks, yoga and massages, it’s all about rest and relaxation before your return to daily life.

Your Trip

How do you get there? Quite simply, take a flight to Singapore, then another to Siem Reap, and a third to Sihanoukville. Once you’ve landed, you’ll be provided with the most suitable means of transport: car, tuk-tuk, Vespa or boat. You’ll have a driver for every journey and an English-speaking guide for each visit or activity. The schedule includes Singapore Like a Local, a private tour of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, a visit to a village on Tonlé Sap Lake, and a street food adventure in Siem Reap. So there’s enough to keep you going, but also plenty freedom to explore by yourself. And don’t forget your stay on Koh Russey Island, where the plan is to have no plan at all! The sea and jungle need no explanation. You’ll spend three days at each of the three stops, enjoying hotel that lives up to its name. We’ve selected two modern properties - an urban setting in Singapore, and a beachfront in Koh Russey - with a charming Khmer revival estate in Siem Reap in between. Despite very different ambiances, they all have a few things in common, namely comfort, charm and environmental responsibility. When it comes to being eco-friendly, we’re sure your accommodation in Singapore will surprise you. And if you have any concerns or last-minute requests along the way, you’ll have the contact details of our on site Concierge to assist you.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Night on board, arrival the next day.

On arrival, English-speaking welcome service with fast-track assistance through formalities. Transfer. Check in (room available immediately) for three nights near Chinatown, in a garden hotel. The three glass structures seem to rise from dense vegetation, extended by long, sinuous balconies. The effect is both striking and serene. Inside, it's all about transparency, with a beautiful balance of straight lines and curves. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with light; crisp contemporary design is softened by carefully chosen materials and neutral tones. The level of comfort is impeccable - ecologically, too: the gardens are notably understated and exemplary in their management. The wellness area occupies an entire floor, with a spa, gym, outdoor infinity pool and a garden promenade punctuated by lantern-shaped pavilions. The restaurant serves polished, imaginative South-East Asian cuisine.

Already included in your itinerary - Singapore like a local. Think about it: what would you most like to do, see, hear or taste in Singapore? Because that's exactly what your guide today - an expatriate who knows the city intimately - will want to know. Once you've made your expectations clear, they'll shape them into a Singaporean experience. Nothing is pre-arranged - just curiosity, flexibility and insight. It's the perfect way to get your bearings, gather perspective and collect valuable advices for the days ahead. You're led straight into the thick of things, guided by your own preferences. A swift and stimulating acclimatisation.

Singapore has all the hallmarks of a contemporary city, yet your trip starts with a retro classic: a Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel bar. Next is a walk in Clarke Quay, where former warehouses and junks have been transformed into boutiques, restaurants and nightclubs. Stop for chicken rice at one of the hawker centres that feed the city’s workforce each day. The National Orchid Garden in the botanical garden is an enchanting haven of peace. At Gardens by the Bay, recreation, pedagogy and ecological ambition combine to educate and enchant. The Parkview Square building, designed by DP Architects in 2002, delivers a remarkable Art Deco revival. And the Dravidian gopura (1925) of Sri Mariamman Temple - brimming with polychrome figures - is startling in this setting. In Chinatown, the Taoist temples have lovely upturned roofs.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Siem Reap/Angkor. Another transfer, then check in for a three-night stay overlooking Polanka Pagoda, in a lovely compound made up of two traditional Cambodian stilt houses and a handful outbuildings, comprising a restaurant, reading room, and more - all set in a tropical garden with pool. Furniture and décor come from the owners’ collection of Cambodian and European art and craftsmanship. In the rooms, this same aesthetic is expressed with sensitivity and restraint. The cuisine strikes a delicious balance between Cambodian and French influences, served at beautifully laid tables. Here, Cambodia feels serene - and open to the world.

Already included - Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. You explore these two great landmarks of the former capital of the Khmer Empire by tuk-tuk, accompanied by a private guide. Built in the 12th century, Angkor Wat - the state temple of Suryavarman II - is the largest and best preserved structure on the site. Archaeologists from renowned universities have done remarkable work here. The mastery of stone carving commands admiration at every turn. Buddhist worship continues in the sanctuary, originally dedicated to Vishnu. Jayavarman VII built the royal city of Angkor Thom in the early 13th century. The immense sculpted faces of the South Gate are unforgettable; the naturalism of the Bayon’s bas-reliefs, at the city’s heart, is striking; and the Terrace of the Leper King was probably used for royal cremations.

Already included - The floating village of Prek Toal. Tonlé Sap - South-East Asia’s largest freshwater lake - plays a vital role in regulating the Mekong. A natural monument in its own right. Prek Toal - half stilted, half floating - lies along a channel that opens onto the lake. You reach it by boat with a private guide. As you might expect, fishing sustains most households, though artisans and traders are equally active. Children weave between homes and school, handling their boats with ease - smiles are quick and genuine. In the surrounding area, spot-billed pelicans, black-headed ibis, little grebes, lesser adjutants and painted storks all find a safe haven in the nearby bird sanctuary. Afterwards, street food by night on a Vespa. Seated behind a sharply dressed driver, get ready to tour the night markets and sample the local street food. It’s lively, colourful and deliciously spontaneous. These small dishes, prepared on a corner of the table and a bit of bar, surprise with their precision and flavour. Meat, fish, shellfish, vegetables and fruit are transformed on the spot for eager diners. When a stall proves irresistible, you stop and dine. Outing with an English-speaking guide.

Transfer to the airport and flight to Sihanoukville. Transfer and crossing to Koh Russey. Stay for three nights in an hotel that fully embraces its contemporary style - radical geometry tempered by organic lines, with careful attention to environmental impact. Your pavilion opens onto the garden; the sea murmurs just steps away. The aesthetic rigour continues indoors, though never at the expense of comfort: spaces feel fluid and harmonious. And the outdoor vegetation becomes part of the interior experience, too. The chefs’ commitment to ingredient quality underpins a refined French and French-fusion cuisine. The result speaks for itself. At the spa, Cambodia’s place within South-East Asia’s wellness traditions becomes abundantly clear.

The copper-toned sand is just seconds away - and needs no introduction. Trees cast welcome shade, loungers are set out discreetly, and the palm-thatched beach shack serves cocktails and light bites. Water activities. The reefs of the archipelago offer excellent snorkelling - damselfish, seahorses, parrotfish, blue-spotted stingrays, red mullet, starfish and more. Walks through the island’s jungle, meanwhile, reveal its botanical richness and, with luck, a glimpse of a red-backed fairy-bluebird, white-rumped shama or oriental pied hornbill. Back at the hotel, slipping into the pool is pure pleasure. A yoga session restores balance; as does a bike ride, in a different way. By boat, you can reach Kep, Cambodia’s no. 1 seaside retreat and home of the celebrated blue crab - best savoured with Kampot pepper, grown on plantations which are easily visited.

Transfer to Sihanoukville, then to Phnom Penh. Return flight via Singapore. Night on board, arrival the next day.
