When it comes to tourist appeal, Thailand has nothing left to prove. And though we may strongly feel that we’ll never tired of it, this trip begins in Cambodia, Thailand’s less voluptuous, but just as blessed neighbour. Cambodia stretches out with paradise beaches and small villages scattered at random among the paddy fields. As well as its capital city, you’ll discover Siem Reap, with its floating villages, a pleasant bustle, and wonderful gateway to the famous temples of Angkor: Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Preah Khan, Banteay Samré, Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea and more. It is an impressive monument to Khmer art and culture, whose universal fame takes nothing away from the experience of actually visiting it. Then there is the legendary fortified city of Angkor Thom, with Bayon and Baphuon Temples, among others. From here, you’ll enjoy a charming piece of country life. Battambang is a lush ambassador of the Cambodian countryside with its paddy fields, peaceful hamlets and temples. Its gentle way of life seems to permeate everything and will stay with you all the way to Koh Kood, a wonderful island to the east of the Gulf of Thailand. Isolated yet accessible, the island reveals its riches to those who linger for a few days: multicoloured coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, lush vegetation, mangroves and traditional villages. It’s an ideal place to enjoy some special time away from the world. Time for a spa treatment or tai chi class; set out to sea to discover the sublime marine life in the Gulf of Thailand; or dine together on the beach. Your last call is Bangkok, the Thai capital, pulsing with energy, where the sounds, tastes and smells give you the unmistakable feeling of being somewhere different.

Your Trip

Which cities, islands and hotels? There are so many to choose from. In preparing this trip, every decision has been considered very carefully to produce a comprehensive, varied itinerary. Sometimes you’ll stay for several days, sometimes for one night. This helps to balance things. Your accommodation has been selected to reflect the character of each location: a trendy urban hotel in Siem Reap, with a rooftop terrace and pool; an intimate retreat in Battambang surrounded by a tropical garden, also with a pool and a restaurant that grows its own produce; a stunning private villa just for you on Koh Kood, with a stylish ambiance and flawless comfort. Sitting on a slope just above the sea, it’s only a few steps to the beach, pool and bar where you can sip cocktails. Welcome to paradise! Finally, in Bangkok, for your last night of the trip, you will once again find contemporary style and design. Exciting highlights have been planned during your city stays: in Siem Reap, you will be accompanied by a guide to visit the legendary temples of Angkor, as well as Banteay Srei and Ta Prohm the following day. These magnificent sites deserve the insight of a historical, cultural and architectural expert to match their stature. Entrance fees are all included in the Angkor Pass that you’ll have in your pocket. In Bangkok, another guide reveals the city and its highlights in a full day tour - busy but not rushing - ending with an unusual visit to the house-museum of a remarkable American architect. The rest of the time, you are free to explore at your own pace, relax, read, swim, sample local flavours, have a massage, or chat. That’s what travelling is all about. And if you have any concerns or last-minute requests, you can rely on the assistance of our on site Concierge service who will be available throughout your trip.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Night on board, arrival the next day.

Upon arrival, private transfer and settle in for three nights in one of the liveliest neighbourhoods of Siem Reap. Your hotel stands out for its stylish decor. Designer pieces and contemporary art blend with a refined aesthetic that highlights white and natural colours. The modern and comfortable rooms overlook a pleasant patio filled with a myriad of green plants - a green oasis in the heart of the city. Another highlight of the place is the beautiful, long rooftop pool.

Already included - The Angkor Pass gives access to the attractions on the site, as well as to Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea to the north-east; Banteay Samré to the east; and the Roluos complex to the south-east.
>Scheduled - A day at Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, in private. You visit these two major attractions of the former capital of the Khmer Empire by tuk-tuk, with a guide. Built in the 12th century, Angkor Wat, the temple-capital of Suryavarman II, is the largest and best preserved monument on the site. Archaeologists from the French School of the Far East, in particular, have carried out remarkable work. The statue collection is admirable. Buddhist worship continues in the sanctuary (which was first dedicated to Vishnu). Jayavarman VII had the royal city of Angkor Thom built at the start of the 13th century. The immense sculpted faces of the South Gate are unforgettable. The lifelike bas-reliefs of the Bayon, the central temple, are astonishing. The sovereigns were probably cremated on the Terrace of the Leper King.

Scheduled - The lesser-known temples of Angkor, in private. With a driver and a guide, you visit two other highlights of Angkor: Banteay Srei temple, dedicated to Shiva and known for its pink sandstone walls and carvings - true marvels of Khmer art; then Ta Prohm temple, built in honour of Jayavarman VII, Angkor’s most powerful ruler, now overtaken by lush vegetation.

Private transfer to Battambang, a lush region where you can experience life in the Cambodian countryside: fabulous landscapes of rice paddies, vast fields slowly ploughed by buffalo. But you will also see some lovely colonial houses and stunning temples. Settle in for the night in a small accommodation surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. From the reading room to the bar, from the guest rooms to the poolside, traditional décor creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout. The staff are unfailingly attentive and gracious.. The ingredients used in the kitchen are as local as can be, sourced from the market or the home garden.

Private transfer to Phsar Prum, border crossing, then transfer to Trat, followed by a ferry to Koh Kood. A true tropical paradise, your hotel is perched on a lush hillside, overlooking the ocean. Your bungalow exudes colonial chic with its white walls, dark wood floors and headboard, elegant consoles, and light curtains draping windows that open onto the sea. The beach isn’t big, but the sand is fine and soft. Just a few metres on the other side of the pier, another, larger and almost deserted beach awaits: Ao Tapao. Spend your days letting time slip away by the sea or poolside, savouring fresh, fruity cocktails at the beach bar, or drifting into quiet reflection as you explore the underwater world — and snorkel in place, immersed in the beauty of the seabed.

Spared from mass tourism, Koh Kood is the easternmost island in the Gulf of Thailand, just a few kilometres from the Cambodian coast. While fishing families have traditionally lived along the coast, unspoiled nature covers the inland areas. Its beaches are among the kingdom’s best-kept secrets, and it’s no surprise to find underwater worlds teeming with countless fish.
Things - Sample the catch of the day in the village of Ao Salt; dive among corals, turtles and colourful fish; greet the sunrise with a peaceful yoga session; explore the island and its stilted fishing villages; test your balance with water skiing, windsurfing or wakeboarding.

Return ferry crossing to Trat and flight to Bangkok. Upon arrival, private transfer to the city centre. With its contemporary glass architecture, your hotel integrates the outdoors, including the lush green walls of the garden, into the décor. Your well-equipped room also plays with transparency. Some suites feature a private outdoor hot tub, a barbecue, and other features. With neutral and comfortable tones - grey, taupe, beige - and wood, along with clean lines, the overall atmosphere is soothing. The shared areas are open, bright and welcoming, as is the rooftop terrace with its bar and swimming pool. At the restaurant, you’ll find refined Thai cuisine and carefully prepared Mediterranean dishes.

Scheduled - Private tour of Bangkok and an architect’s museum. With a guide, you explore Bangkok, a cosmopolitan city full of contrasts. Along the way, a few highlights await you. For example, Wat Pho, the largest and oldest temple in Thailand, where visitors come to admire the impressive Reclining Buddha, which is 46 metres long and 15 metres high, entirely covered in gold leaf; and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, or Wat Phra Kaew, the most important Buddhist temple in the country, where people come to venerate the famous jade Buddha statue. You will also see the Grand Palace, located on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River. It still houses the royal residence and several government offices. A little further on, after lunch in a restaurant, you stroll through the amulet market, n institution where many vendors and shoppers mingle in search of a rare piece to protect them from evil spirits and attract good luck. Next, head to Wat Saket, a Buddhist temple perched on a hill that offers an incredible view of Bangkok. The highlight of the day is the home of a New York architect with a passion for art, who has a particular interest in Thai silks. Beautifully decorated, the building on the canal bank showcases the purest traditional Thai style. Today, it is a museum housing an invaluable collection of Thai and Asian art, such asbenjarong, multicoloured porcelain.
Late in the evening, private transfer to the airport and international return flight. Overnight on board; arrival the next day.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

The Fishing Villages and Waterfalls of Koh Kood

Koh Kood (Kood Island), known for its idyllic scenery, emerald sea and white sandy beaches fringed with coconut palms, holds many other treasures. Setting out for a walk is a wonderful opportunity to discover a new side of the island through the small fishing village of Ao Yai, the Khlong Chao waterfalls, Khao Ruarub Island with its three remarkable rocks, the lush jungle, mangroves, and many authentic villages along the coastline. Explore all of this in the company of a guide.

Alternative to Koh Kood: Intimate Koh Mak

Sitting quietly between Koh Kood and Koh Chang, the small island of Koh Mak is a true rough diamond. The island is certainly surrounded by beautiful beaches, but fortunately, not everyone knows about them yet. You can therefore enjoy a tranquillity that is rare in Thailand, especially pleasant when snorkelling to admire the stunning underwater scenery, in Koh Rang National Park for example. From Koh Mak, you can easily reach Koh Kham by kayak, a delightful little island where you feel almost alone in the world. To top it all off, the hotels here have a naturally sustainable mindset, relying on their own vegetable gardens, recycling and an almost complete absence of cars. It’s a small paradise.
