Itinerary highlights

  • Three islands, each with its own complementary charm, effortlessly guiding you from the serenity of lush countryside to the soft embrace of pristine beaches.
  • At every stop, accommodations exude a refined bohemian aesthetic - intimate havens in harmony with their surroundings.
  • Massages, sunrise ascent of MountAndong, purification ceremony, face-to-face encounter with the Komodo dragons: it’s already planned.
  • Carbon absorption, Concierge service, nomadic Wi-Fi, our personalised recommendations: the extra Voyageurs touch.
Large, small, or scattered like confetti, the Indonesian lands - at once separated and connected by the sea - offer countless havens for adventurous souls. To experience this, we have chosen JavaBali, and Flores. Famous though they are, approach them with care and you will find yourself far from the crowds, enjoying a surprising intimacy with the great artistic and natural sites - tropical forest, savannah, volcano, coral reefs. UNESCO has recognised temples, such as the spectacular Borobudur, as well as landscapes, like the rice terraces of Bali that stretch as far as the eye can see, as World Heritage sites. You will move from one to another with wide-eyed excitement. In front of the Bodhisattva or the intense green of the Balinese countryside, you reach for the hand beside you and share a quiet comment. That's why you travel as a couple, for the joy of sharing your emotions. And then there's everything else: the cuisine, the accommodation, the waterfalls, the flower offerings, the traditional clothing, the sound of the gamelan, the call of the Rothschild myna, the beach, the sea turtles, the sunfish. What a programme.

Your trip

Your hotels are always surrounded by trees, flower beds and lawns, extending into teak forests, shimmering rice fields and the transparent waters of the sea. They are harmonious, beautiful, discreet and comfortable. Each has its own atmosphere, reflecting its surroundings. No contradictions. As the icing on the cake, on two occasions you'll enjoy almost independent accommodations - a small charming villa and a bungalow. And , everywhere, that precise and courteous service that makes everything feel effortless. Flights, private transfers, and vehicles with driver c are all arranged; the logistics are smooth and fluid. The visits we have scheduled for your itinerary connect you to each place: the unforgettable sunrise ascent of Mount Andong; in Bali, a walk through the Sidemen countryside, as well as an encounter with local artisans; from Flores, a day in Komodo National Park to see the famous dragons with your own eyes. Not to mention two special touches to pamper you: a traditional Javanese massage and a therapeutic massage in Bali. And if, along the way, a minor setback or an unexpected whim should arise, you have the contact details for our on-site Concierge service at your disposal at any time during your journey. This person, in coordination with your travel specialists / travel experts, can also help to adapt your journey along the way.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

International flight to Java. Night on board, arrival the next day.

Meet and greet at the airport, assistance with any travel formalities, then transfer to Magelang in a private vehicle. Spend three nights in hillside accommodation. Enjoy spectacular views. Take in the eight mountains and lush vegetation surrounding you, dotted here and there with a few palm trees for a change of scenery. In the hills, the air is cooler and the atmosphere relaxed - an ideal spot for you to unwind. Stay in a Joglo - style villa with its distinctive roof typical of this part of Indonesia. The villas are spacious and reflect Javanese traditions with décor featuring local arts and crafts, both painted and carved wood, and carefully selected antiques. This is a stunning location. Watch the morning interplay between mist and sunlight from your balcony. The resort itself boasts a fine swimming pool with a view, yoga classes, visits to a coffee plantation, bike rides over different gradients, an unmissable spa and even a fitness trail through the jungle. The restaurants offer a wide range of local and international cuisine featuring organic garden produce.

Magelang lies in the fertile Kedu plain, at the foot of the Merbabu and Sumbing volcanoes. This area is dominated by teak forests and slender palm trees shrouded in a vibrant spirituality that creates fascinating sanctuaries. It is also the gateway to Borobudur, a marvel of Buddhist art, built in the 8th and 9th centuries.
Optional:  private guided tour. Package includes a vigorous, revitalising Javanese spa. Feel the stresses and strains fade away beneath the skilled hands of the hotel’s masseuses.

Your itinerary includes climbing Mount Andong at sunrise. At first light, head for the slopes of Mount Andong, one of the eight mountains surrounding your accommodation. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view after hiking for approximately 2.5h. On a clear day, see the Merapi, Telomoyo, Sindoro and Sumbing mountains unveiled before your very eyes in the crimson glow of early morning. Unforgettable.

Transfer to Semarang Airport in a private vehicle for the short flight to Denpasar on the Island of Bali. Transfer by private vehicle to Ubud. Three-night stay on the banks of the Ayung River in outstanding accommodation with its sleek design and clear commitment to sustainability. Structures of various shapes and sizes have been built amidst the coconut and cinnamon trees. Each one has its own character and unique design, and is made from bamboo and plant materials. The wood is left to weather naturally over time everywhere and is exposed to the elements of these tropical latitudes. Like all of the spaces here, your bathroom has a view - looking out over the lush green valley. Fall asleep and wake up to nature’s soundtrack. Relax on the terrace at any time of day, meditate, practise yoga or simply contemplate the world around you. Discover the area by following the small winding paths through the forest. In the restaurant, which opens out in all directions, the chefs use home-grown produce including rocket, dandelions, lettuce, okra, mushrooms, herbs, coconuts and mangoes together with rice. The dishes have been created to nurture physical and mental wellbeing using a variety of anti-inflammatory ingredients, fermented foods and probiotics. Much of the cooking is done in traditional Balinese ovens. The dining room has a bamboo roof and seating is arranged around a large table made from ... 70,000 recycled baguettes! The menu has a wide range of local and international cuisine. Near the river, a small warung (stall) provides a more informal venue without compromising ambiance. In the immediate vicinity, there are fifteen natural pools and small, intimate nooks where guests can pleasantly while away the hours.

The island’s artistic traditions mainly come to the fore in Ubud, in the highlands of Bali. Many painters and sculptors have settled here and remain true to their craft. Those young at heart can still revel in the art of kite flying. Visit the bird park, which covers two hectares (five acres) of gardens and is home to the largest collection of birds in Indonesia. The 250 species found here roam freely and can be easily approached. You will be amazed by the variety of shapes and colours! The rice fields have shaped the lives of the local Ubud population for generations. The fields have been cleverly carved into the hills. This is one of the most beautiful landscapes ever crafted by the human hand.
Your itinerary includes a purification ceremony in a secluded temple.. As night falls, take part in a temple-based purification ceremony - a secret and sacred place where you will experience spiritual awakening. The ritual is intended to cleanse body and soul, banish negative karma and heighten energy flows. A unique spiritual experience with mantras and jungle animals providing the soundtrack.

A soothing massage in your hotel is included in your package. Savour a delightful moment of relaxation in a small bamboo structure with jungle sounds and lapping water echoing all around.
Things to see and do:
Wander through central Ubud and lose yourself in the hustle and bustle of the busy streets, especially Jalan Raya Ubud, the main thoroughfare boasting a variety of shops, restaurants, galleries, museums and temples (Pura Gunung Lebah, Saraswati, Royal Palace). Explore the rice fields around the town by following the “Rice Field Trek” and sample local delicacies at the “warungs” (stalls) en route. Visit a temple and enjoy a traditional Balinese show comprising music, theatre and dance.
Optional private Batik-making workshop available.

Transfer to Sidemen in a private chauffeur-driven vehicle. Cycle along small country roads. Your itinerary will take you to traditional villages where you can observe skilled craftspeople at work. Your local guide will be on hand to act as interpreter. Lunch in a restaurant nestling in the heart of the rice fields. Next stop Sidemen. Spend two nights in hillside accommodation overlooking the terraced rice fields. Wood from the East Kalimantan forests and traditional thatched roofs were used by local craftspeople to construct 15 villas welcoming visitors in search of tranquil surroundings and sensory awakening. Surround yourself by a sea of green stretching from your room to the highly acclaimed spa and then on to the restaurant where chefs experiment with locally sourced ingredients. Leave chaotic city life behind. A blissful pause.

The village of Sidemen provides an ideal starting point for strolling through the vegetable or flower plantations. Begin your day by taking in the sights and sounds of the local market. Marvel at the abundance of home-grown produce used to make local culinary delights before discovering the iconic yellow bridge at Tukad Yeh Unda or visiting a ceramics workshop, a highly revered regional craft. And if, perchance, you spot a weaving sign outside one of the workshops, be sure to stop off and witness the weavers at work. Gain an insight into the secret of the Sidemen “songket”, a fabric that is instantly recognisable because of its distinctive patterns and colours.
Things to see and do: Admire the view from the Pura Bukit Tageh Temple, visit some of the island’s most prestigious temples such as Pura Besakih, leaving mass tourism behind.
Optional cooking class in the heart of the rice fields.

Transfer to Denpasar Airport in a private chauffeur-driven vehicle for the short flight to Flores. Upon arrival, transfer by private vehicle to Labuan Bajo for a three-night stay, just a short distance from the beach, under tropical palm trees. Your thatched-roof bungalow is well equipped and has a pleasant bathroom, which is partly outdoors. Open spaces are the norm in the majority of buildings including the restaurant, lounge, massage area and gym. When you’re not in the dining room (which serves Pan-Asian cuisine) or on the white sandy beach, linger leisurely by the pool. Choose from a wide range of beach activities - paddleboarding, canoeing or simply relax. The seabed also offers ideal spots for diving and snorkelling.

Your itinerary includes a day meeting the Komodo Island lizards. The Komodo, Padar and Rinca islands form part of the Komodo National Park, home to the famous dragon lizards of the same name. These can grow up to 3 metres (10 feet) long and swallow a whole deer. The rocky hills are covered with dry savanna and dotted with spiny bushes. These form the lizards’ sole habitat. What a contrast to the white sandy beaches and azure-coloured waves breaking over the coral! A walk on Komodo Island, accompanied by a ranger, provides a golden opportunity to observe the lizards alongside an abundance of wildlife such as buffalo, deer, monkeys, many birds and red crabs. Swimming off the coast of Padar Island, Pink Beach and Manta Point is next on the list. What a great opportunity to admire the underwater scenery, whether scuba diving or snorkelling.

You may feel sad as your holiday draws to a close. But not for long given the splendour of the light, the unique setting of your hotel, the clarity of the water and the abundance of plant life. What’s more - there’s so much to do. Relaxing on the beach and taking everything in. Swim, snorkel or dive and discover a vibrant and colourful underwater world - a real kaleidoscope of marine life.

Transfer to the airport in a private vehicle, flight to Denpasar, and international flight home. Night on board, arrival the next day.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Private visit of the Borobudur Temple

With a guide, you will discover a marvel of Buddhist art: the Borobudur stûpa-mandala. This representation of the cosmos and the path to enlightenment, was built in the 8th and 9th centuries. You will be impressed by the series of bas-reliefs which guide the pilgrims, panel by panel. The sculptors who created them hold a rightful place in the pantheon of their art. The scale and coherence of the design are impressive; the dedication to education is moving and the virtuosity displayed by the artists is often breathtaking. And then, there are still some five hundred Buddha statues… It's truly remarkable!

Batik creation workshop in Ubud

Our artisan is originally from Solo, the birthplace of batik tulis, a traditional decorative dyeing technique celebrated for the diversity and symbolic richness of its patterns. Here, wax replaces the paintbrush, as your host shows you how in freehanding the outlines of a design before applying the colours. Everyone chooses their medium - a square canvas or a cotton tote bag - which the specialist will perfect before sending it to you the next day. Before we part ways, we share a convivial moment over a traditional meal. All of this - in private!

Cooking class in the rice paddies

This private workshop is an opportunity not only to sample Indonesian flavours but also to learn more about local culinary traditions. The day begins with a trip to the market, where you stroll among the colourful stalls in search of the fresh ingredients needed to prepare the meal: exotic fruits, vegetables, aromatic herbs and spices. Next, head to a small village in the heart of the rice fields, where your host demonstrates typical Balinese cooking techniques. Next, it’s your turn to try your hand at preparing local dishes before tasting your own creations. The afternoon ends with a leisurely stroll through the village and a visit to the nearby temple - food for the soul.
