Itinerary highlights

  • Introduce them to the Roman and Florentine treasures in a playful way so they become fans of Italy from the very start.
  • A selection of charming accommodations, thoughtfully chosen for families and ideally located.
  • Treasure hunts through Florence, themed walks in the capital, and skip-the-line access to some highlights: it’s all already arranged!
  • Direct flights, on-site Concierge, train tickets and private transfers, our personalised recommendations: the extra Voyageurs touch.
In Italy, the feeling of being at home inevitably arises after just a few strolls: you never remain a stranger for long, whether in Florence or Rome. Because, as Stendhal and Astérix can confirm, these two cities are part of our heritage. The Florentines and the Romans are its custodians, but we dream of it, we transpose it, we interpret it. So when we go there, especially with our children, we feel a bit like we’re coming home. The bambini will delight in pasta and gelati, biscotti, fountains for tossing coins, gardens, museums and churches. They’ll see in real life what their history books have been talking about all year. And seeing all this (again) through children’s eyes only deepens adults’ attachment to the Italian peninsula.

Your journey

In both Florence and Rome, you stay in carefully selected accommodation perfectly suited to family life: first, an apartment with a garden and private hammam for the comfort and independence of a “home away from home”; next, a family suite in an accommodation that will make you feel like royalty. Taking the train to connect the two cities is certainly more pleasant than driving. You don’t have to worry about the itinerary or the traffic, which can sometimes be surprising in Italy. To facilitate this family getaway, we've planned some great highlights: a treasure hunt with a guide in Florence, and no fewer than two themed walks in the capital - one historical and theatrical, the other focused on magic and occult traditions in Rome. All of this is, of course, in private. Of course, we have also reserved your tickets for several highlights: the Leonardo da Vinci Museum (skip-the-line tickets) and the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill trio (flexible tickets for self-guided visits, at your own pace and in any order you wish). Not to mention the assistance of our Concierge at your destination, available at any time with just a phone call - whether you want to book another excursion or reserve a table at the best pizzeria in the neighbourhood, for example.

They’ll love it…

Solve the riddles of the Florentine treasure hunt and explore the secret passages of the Palazzo Vecchio, the centre of power during the Medici era; find Michelangelo’s David at the Galleria dell’Accademia; sample the thick bistecca alla fiorentina; toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain and make a wish; discover a thousand and one things about Rome, its history and its people in a playful, open-air way; venture into the catacombs or the Stadio Olimpico, where Roma play (!); picnic under the umbrella pines at Villa Borghese; eat pasta at every meal and with every sauce, etc.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Private transfer and accommodation for three nights in the Oltrarno area (literally “on the other side of the Arno”). The San Frediano neighbourhood is one of the most pleasant in Florence. This is where your establishment's nine apartments are located, each with its own unique décor and layout. The concept, however, remains the same: exceptional comfort and amenities, cosy interiors with warm tones and character. Here a private hammam, there a furnished terrace, elsewhere a loft-style bedroom: there is something for everyone, and for the whole family.

Florence raises its red roofs and the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore between the peaceful banks of the Arno and the hills of Tuscany. It was profoundly shaped by the family of Lorenzo de’ Medici, known as “The Magnificent” - an evocative and flattering nickname shared with the Florentine city, which saw its golden age under their rule. Even today, it boasts Renaissance palaces and churches, as well as a myriad of museums and art galleries - much to the delight of curious visitors. Food lovers, meanwhile, won't want to miss the delicious trippa alla fiorentina, hearty bistecca, or white truffle pasta, all local specialties that are not to be missed.
On your agenda - Family treasure hunt. To entertain younger travellers, set off in search of clues hidden at various sites and monuments in Florence. With the help of a booklet full of puzzles and anecdotes and accompanied by a private guide, you will (re)learn the history of the city and explore its iconic sites in a fun way; It's sure to create wonderful memories for everyone.

Already planned - Your fast-track tickets to the Leonardo da Vinci Museum  Located in the prestigious Palazzo Sforza Almeni, the museum invites visitors to immerse themselves in an interactive tour of the Renaissance genius's world. There are more than fifty machines, faithfully reconstructed from his notebooks - from self-supporting bridges to flying machines - which visitors can operate. High-resolution reproductions of his pictorial masterpieces complete the experience. Ideally located just a stone's throw from the Duomo, the museum combines heritage, education, and entertainment, appealing to both curious visitors and families.
Optional: The Medici's Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens; cooking class for the whole family.

Private transfer to Santa Maria Novella station, then train to Rome. Upon arrival, another private transfer and check-in for three nights in the historic centre, just a stone’s throw from the famous Spanish Steps. This unique place feels more like a charming pied-à-terre than just another hotel - and that is its true value. Here, you are immersed in a warm, family atmosphere. Inside, there are only five rooms, simply yet stylishly decorated: old parquet floors, period furniture, marble bathtubs, satin drapes… When it comes to services, there is no restaurant or reception, but you will find a shared, fully equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches in the rooms. Via Condotti and its trendy boutiques are just a few metres away, as is the Spagna metro station, which provides quick access to the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, Termini Central station and more.

Capital of an empire with limitless borders, Rome has nevertheless kept its human scale, dotted with parks and shaded gardens, small squares with cheerful fountains and lively stalls. The famous hills surrounding Mount Palatine, where Romulus and Remus fought, are replete with ancient treasures. Among the must-see sights to show children: the Trevi Fountain (best seen at night!), the forums, the Colosseum and its gladiators, the Capitol, Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel, the 1st-century AD grand stadium, the Villa Medici...
On the agenda: Private guided tour ‘Rome as theatre’. For over two thousand years, Rome has been a melting pot for all the makings of the best plays. The city can indeed be likened to a comedy; it should therefore be visited like a theatre to get to know its characters, its stories, and its ancestral secrets. Leading the group is a tour guide, while actors recount and act out the most surprising episodes in the history of the Eternal City, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.
Optional
- Private creative baking workshop for children; private tour of Rome's monuments for parents.

Already arranged: Your multi-entry tickets for the Colosseum, the Forum and the Palatine Hill. These three iconic Roman landmarks will transport you back to the heart of the Imperial era. Nearly two thousand years old, the Colosseum still inspires awe for its sheer size. Measuring 187 metres long, 155 metres wide and 50 metres high, it remains a remarkable technical achievement. Next, head to the Roman Forum, the economic, political, judicial, financial and religious centre for more than twelve centuries. From the Palatine Hill (70 metres high), which witnessed the battle between Romulus and Remus and is one of the oldest sites in the city, you can see the Forum on one side and the Circus Maximus on the other, once the largest public building in ancient Rome, mainly used for chariot races. This hill has become a large open-air museum. Visits are self-guided, at your own pace, and can be undertaken in any direction you wish.
Also planned: Private guided tour around magical Rome and its occult traditions. Accompanied by an illusionist and mind reader, the family explores magical Rome and its esoteric traditions. Invisible to the casual passer-by, these mysteries lie hidden in the heart of the historic centre. During the tour, visitors learn about occult memory techniques, a forgotten tradition dating back more than two millennia, which once shaped the minds of great thinkers and artists such as Giordano Bruno, who was condemned for his knowledge. Magic shows and mind-reading demonstrations punctuate this fascinating journey among iconic monuments and the twists and turns of the human mind.

Private transfer to the airport and direct return flight.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

The Pitti Palace and the Boboli Garden

The whole family follows in the footsteps of a private guide to explore the Medici’s baroque palace through the eyes of children. Visitors will tour the royal apartments, tracing the life story of Marie de Médici (Queen of France), Cosimo II and the Grand Prince Ferdinand. During this tour specially designed for families, the youngest visitors get a glimpse of patrician life in Florence’s most beautiful palace. Next, head to the Boboli Gardens to admire the terraces, ramps, staircases and vistas that make Boboli a model of the Italian-style garden.

Cooking class in Florence

You’ll head to the San Ambrogio district with the family, where the city's oldest market is held - a major source of inspiration for Florentine chefs. Accompanied by one of these chefs and an interpreter, everyone puts on an apron and a chef’s hat to learn - in person, once and for all! - all the secrets of making pasta or pizza (your choice), as well as ice cream, il gelato. The inseparable Italian combination. On returning, you'll enjoy prolonging the journey and impressing your friends by recreating the recipes you learned.

Creative pastry-making for children, monumental Rome for parents

While the bambini are busy in the kitchen under the supervision of a professional chef and an Italo-Dutch artist, you’ll follow your guide to explore the historic centre of the Eternal City. Some might give free rein to their imagination and artistic talents by decorating pre-baked pastries, while others will be all ears, captivated by their guide’s knowledge and gift for storytelling. The former create sweet masterpieces inspired by the gods, heroes and legends of Roman mythology using naturally coloured icing; the latter wander through the most beautiful squares (Piazza del Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese, etc.) and weave through the secret alleyways of a more intimate Rome, soaking up the soul of the city. Everyone is fully appreciating the moment.
