With good air quality, transport and accessibility, Amsterdam is regularly ranked as one of the most liveable cities in the world. It is very family-friendly and a top destination for travelling families. Its tremendous artistic heritage and significant involvement in contemporary issues make it an extremely stimulating city. For adults and children alike. In Amsterdam, old Europe gets a facelift. In addition to the activities already on your itinerary, it is worth noting that Oosterdok, which is home to NEMO Science Museum, also has the world's largest maritime museum, the Scheepvaartmuseum. Here you can visit a replica of the Amsterdam, a merchant sailing ship built in 1748 for the VOC (Dutch East India Company). At the Rijksmuseum, it's never too early to admire Rembrandt's The Night Watch. Street food is available everywhere for a quick bite to eat on-the-go. There are many options from herring rolls to waffles. There are lots of green spaces. Among them, the Vondelpark was created in the English style in the 1860s. It is a delightful place with an understated design, where children can enjoy play areas and parents can enjoy the romantic atmosphere. It is a favourite place among Dutch families for getting a breath of fresh air. The Anne Frank House is obviously a museum worth visiting, given the sensitive nature of what it documents. We have outlined just a few ideas here to convince you, if you needed convincing, of all the opportunities Amsterdam has to offer families. In fact, the abundance of options and the logistics involved, particularly for museums, which are not always straightforward, make it worthwhile to get help from a specialist for a family holiday. In addition, our on-site team is there to help you book activities, recommend suitable restaurants, help with any last-minute needs your children may have, etc.

Your hotel in Amsterdam has a typical Dutch style

It occupies three historic houses on the banks of a canal. As Amsterdam as it gets! Inside, the decor plays on two main tones: purple and black. The style is quite neo-baroque and glamorous. All over the walls, there are references to the golden age of Dutch painting. The rooms are well equipped and therefore very comfortable, with a seamless design that connects the bathroom with the rest of the room. The common areas are equally impressive, with a lounge bar where you can sip gin or enjoy a snack. The courtyard garden is quite exceptional for the city. As an added bonus, the hotel rents bicycles so you can go for a ride around town.

Ask for the itinerary

The secrets of Amsterdam's Golden Age - Starting at the Waterlooplein flea market, you'll set off on a fun treasure hunt. You'll meet the game master, pick up a kit and set off through the historic neighbourhoods. The different stops lead to the most iconic monuments from the Golden Age. The city's most beautiful sights are revealed in a fun and accessible way. And there's no need to rush, you can stop at a fish stall or a café to make the most of the experience.
Amsterdam like a local- Given the way of life in the Netherlands, it's no surprise that this friendly initiative is carried out by bicycle. After all, it is the number one means of private transport here. That said, everything else is up to you. Nothing is pre-planned. When you meet your guide, you can exchange ideas and quickly draw up a plan of action. It’s all about seeing whether Amsterdam meets your expectations, whatever they may be. Once you’ve agreed on everything, you can hop on your bikes or tandems, with different options available depending on the size of the group, and off you go.
Explore Amsterdam on a wooden boat - These small wooden boats are light, manoeuvrable and comfortable, making them ideal for exploring the Venice of the North via its famous canals. Travelling this way makes you feel a bit like a local, as the canals have contributed so much to the movement of goods and people. The English-speaking captain of your private boat knows the city like the back of their hand. They will put a tour together that suits your preferences. Once again, it's a tailor-made experience.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Electric bike ride around Amsterdam

Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you set off from Amsterdam Central Station at a leisurely pace - made easier by electric assistance if needed - to explore the wetlands and their ecosystem. It's surprising to find farms so close to the big city, but that's how it is in the Netherlands. The separation is less clear-cut than in many other countries. This is something that the Dutch are very proud of. In short, as you cycle around, you get to see a bit of everything. Bikes are suitable for families.
Optional

Canoeing in the countryside

Canoeing is another excellent way to explore the countryside around Amsterdam. The canals extend far into the countryside. This is an opportunity to discover rural Holland, with its fields, meadows, black and white cows, multicoloured tulips and small woodland areas. There are also old windmills, which are still a staple of the Dutch landscape. We provide everything you need and the trip, which is accompanied by an English-speaking guide, is conducted in the safest possible conditions.
Optional

Tickets for the NEMO Science Museum

The building sits on the Oosterdok and is the work of the great architect Renzo Piano. Spectacular. Inside the museum, visitors are encouraged to participate. Visitors from as young as five years old are invited to broaden their knowledge, gain a better understanding of scientific approaches and view the world around them from this perspective through a range of activities. All of this is designed to work on several levels simultaneously, allowing families to learn and progress together. This approach to activities is particularly stimulating and gives everyone the opportunity to experiment. Here, curiosity is not a bad thing. It’s a good thing!
Optional

With a few extra days... Rotterdam by train

Every cloud has a silver lining: Old Rotterdam was destroyed by German bombings in 1940, but every cloud has a silver lining because following the war, the city was reconstructed on a grand scale. The architectural style here is different to the style in Amsterdam, for example. It is also home to the largest port in Europe. It is like a city in its own right and a global trade hub. Rotterdam is something else. What an excellent reason to hop on the train and go and see it for yourself!
