Travelling in Australia means stepping into a time before time, the Dreamtime, when everything was immaterial. A world of light, fragmented and harmonious, like a Seurat painting. The Dreamtime still exists and must be revealed by Aboriginal peoples to be fully understood. And yet, in every corner of this island continent, Australia retains traces of it – the unlikely, intangible beauty of Uluru’s red earth, the Great Barrier Reef and its sandy islands, chains of coral as fragile as they are vast, the dense forests of the Northern Territories, and, poised above the water as if ready to take flight, the white butterfly of the Sydney Opera House.

Travel to Australia by region

Queensland & the Great Barrier Reef

A journey to the Great Barrier Reef is simply unforgettable. This 2,000 km (1,243 miles) coral formation, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest in the world with its 3,000 reefs and 600 islands. It stretches along the northeast coast of Australia and is home to a very rich marine wildlife, delighting diving enthusiasts, with or without tanks. The tropical city of Cairns is the main departure point for the Great Barrier Reef; it can also be accessed from many other towns such as Townsville, Mission Beach, Airlie Beach and Gladstone.

Sydney, Melbourne & Southern Australia

Stay in Sydney: Adorned with its sail-shaped Opera House and its bridge overlooking a bay considered one of the most beautiful in the world, Sydney is a city full of charm. With nearly 4 million inhabitants, it remains the largest metropolis in Australia. 21 beaches, 8 months of sunshine a year, shops, museums, ultra-stylish bars and restaurants, hotels with contemporary architecture, and Victorian-era monuments: Sydney is not only trendy and classic, but also dynamic and creative. Not to be missed around Sydney: the Blue Mountains region, then Hunter Valley, celebrated for its vineyards. Then, why not have lunch at Cottage Point in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park? A must-do experience, with a return seaplane flight from Sydney.

The Kimberley & Western Australia

A journey through the Kimberley and Western Australia is to encounter the wildest, most remote, and most unknown aspects the island-continent has to offer. Western Australia for adventurers in search of beauty, the great outdoors, and the sense of being at the ends of the earth. Spectacular landscapes shaped over millennia by the elements, abundant wildlife and plant life, and that unique way of becoming one with untouched nature.

The Top End & Red Centre

Journey to the Red Centre. Located in the heart of Aboriginal land in the centre of the country, Uluru is a true cathedral of the desert, standing 348 metres (1,141 feet) high with a circumference of 9 km (5.6 miles). This giant, 600 million years old, which seems to reign supreme over the vast flatness of the bush, is the largest monolith in the world. The show is magnificent and the place is magical, especially at sunset. Seen from above, it’s even better! At sunrise or sunset, this impressive rock offers an extraordinary spectacle, just like the Olgas with their rounded domes, not to mention Kings Canyon, a 200 m (656 ft) high plateau with its towering cliffs. In Alice Springs, an early morning hot air balloon flight over the desert reveals the full splendour of the outback in near-total silence.
