Shikoku - Southern Japan travel
A journey to Shikoku, a splendid island renowned for its 88-temple pilgrimage, is a journey full of passion, yet it remains the least known of the main islands of the Japanese archipelago. However, it offers some of the country’s most beautiful natural and cultural sites, an enveloping atmosphere of serenity, and particularly lively and distinctive traditions. Stop off at Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot springs in Japan, a marvel of traditional 19th-century architecture. The interior is a true labyrinth of corridors, rooms and staircases. A wonderful old-world atmosphere prevails here, and the baths are immense.
When travelling in Japan, a stopover on the island of Shikoku is a must.
