Siberia travel

What an adventure at the Russian frontier – a journey through Siberian Mongolia! Let’s say east of the Altai and north of a line running from the Khangai Mountains to Ulaanbaatar. This concerns the northern fringe of several provinces. A bit more of the steppe, with its nomadic herders, yurts and horses. Then come the larches, pines and firs of the taiga, a landscape more distinctly Siberian. The lakes too. As in Khuvsgul aimag, with Khuvsgul Lake, very ancient and intensely blue, around which stretches a vast national park; or Uvs Lake, whose basin is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In Töv Province, Bogd Khan Uul National Park enjoys the same status. You can go on long hikes there through landscapes of magnificent grandeur.
