100% customisable travel idea
Slovenia - Bled - Triglav - the Adriatic Coast - Ljubljana
100% customisable for you
On arrival, pick up your rental car and drive to Triglav National Park, south-west of Bled. Stay for two nights in a traditional Slovenian country house, halfway between Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. Inside, the wooden furniture gives the rooms a rustic charm, in keeping with the bucolic setting, and makes you feel like you’re travelling through a Grimm brothers’ fairy tale. Traditions are also reflected on the plate as typical Slovenian dishes are served for breakfast every morning, made with fresh, seasonal farm produce.
On your itinerary - Free boating on Lake Bled, with its astonishing tranquillity Glide across the water in traditional boats, with snow-capped peaks and Bled Castle, perched on a rock, reflected in the clear water... Romantic souls will love it. On the lake’s (and the country’s) only island stands a pretty 15th-century church with some Gothic polychromes and spectacular Baroque décor. The bell in the bell tower is reputed to grant wishes. It costs nothing to try.
Optional - Paragliding over Mount Vogel.
Drive to Bovec, in the Soca Valley, west of Triglav. Stay for two nights in a contemporary chalet. Clean lines, wood, grey metal: urban rigour in the mountains and a slightly Japanese atmosphere. The Kanin ski and hiking area is 2 miles (3 km) away. Your studio is equipped with a comfortable bed, bathroom, kitchenette and dining area so that you can be completely self-sufficient. The in-house sauna allows you to recover from the healthy fatigue of long walks in the surrounding area. In the cellar, wine is cheerfully paired with sheep’s cheese, which has made the region famous among connoisseurs. Life at the hotel revolves around outdoor activities and services adapt to the seasons - from skiing in winter to mountain biking, hiking, kayaking and rafting in spring and summer.
A little corner of the Alps still unknown to many, and yet! Lovers of outdoor activities and water sports will fall in love with this region, crossed by the Soca River, which offers a wide range of possibilities in both winter and summer.
On your itinerary - A private hike in the Soca Valley. The trail connecting the river’s source to Bovec crosses the peaceful, wooded plains of the Trenta Valley, running alongside the emerald river. As you walk, you will encounter a number of natural attractions: the monument to Dr Julius Kugy, who was a mountaineer and explorer of the Julian Alps, the Mlinarica Gorge and the church of Trenta Marija Lavretanska. Along the way, you will cross footbridges and suspension bridges to reach the picturesque village of Krsovec, on the edge of the park, and the trail that ends in Bovec.
Optional - Private tour of the Triglav National Park.
Drive to Dobrovo, in the Goriska Brda wine valley. The idyllic landscapes of green hills and vineyards dotted with picturesque villages give the region a Tuscan feel to it. You will stay here for two nights. The white walls and dark wooden galleries of the vast, carefully restored traditional building provide a lot of character. The decoration does not ignore the rustic origins of the house, but it has been modernised with tact, adding discerning touches of design. The well-equipped, comfortable rooms welcome travellers with their brightness and tranquillity. The breakfast is delicious, colourful and invigorating. The bar, of course, serves local wines. Outside, there is a swimming pool surrounded by greenery, a barbecue area and an inner courtyard where you can relax in the evening.
On your itinerary - Exploring the Goriska Brda region by electric bike. This hilly landscape is criss-crossed by numerous cycle paths leading from medieval villages to vineyards, offering superb panoramic views along the way. Along the way, you can stop for a bite to eat at one of the many wine cellars or tourist farms known for their exquisite wines and fresh, high-quality local cuisine.
Optional - Private wine tasting in a wine cellar.
Drive to Piran and stay for two nights in the old town on the peninsula. The hotel is a dashing centenarian facing the sea and provides a fine range of services. First and foremost, the rooms are clean, modern, well-designed and open to the sea, but there is also a lovely dining room where the light enters without dazzling. The dishes arrive at the tables exuding bouquets of Mediterranean scents. To fully enjoy the coppery reflections of the sunset, head to the roof terrace. Finally, the spa has a slightly psychedelic atmosphere and provides its treatments in a very professional manner.
On your itinerary - Spa and visit to the Secovlje salt pans, which have been glistening in the sun since the Middle Ages. They are now part of a coastal nature park, along with the lower Dragonja valley. In the midst of this sublime landscape lies a unique thalassotherapy centre. The natural products used for treatments, fango (mud) and brine, are created directly on site. You have access to the seawater swimming pool, Kneipp pools and salt pans, which you can visit at your leisure.
Optional - Discover the Slovenian coast by private speedboat.
On your itinerary - Visit to Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. This karst network is located halfway between Istria and Ljubljana and is one of Slovenia’s wonders. A small electric train takes you to the heart of the cave, then you walk through some magical chambers where stalactites and stalagmites create majestic underground landscapes. Geological explanations are given in English. Not far away, Predjama Castle (13th century), which was built in a huge rock cavity, also arouses amazement and fascination.
Drive to Ljubljana, return the rental car and stay the night in a modern building. The rooms are decorated in sober tones of white, grey, buff, green and blue. The parquet flooring gives them a touch of class. In terms of dining, there is a snack bar, but the emphasis is on breakfast, which is a lovely buffet that invites you to fill up on energy. The scooter rental service is very much in keeping with the times and is ideal for getting around locally. A bicycle rental service allows you to plan longer rides.
On your itinerary - A private tour of Ljubljana. Accompanied by an experienced guide, the tour reveals the rich history of the Slovenian capital, which is a picturesque city with multiple influences. This is the result of its central geographical position at the crossroads of the Balkans and Central Europe. Roman, Byzantine, Hungarian, Venetian, Austrian, Austro-Hungarian and finally Yugoslavian - successive periods of domination have left their mark on its identity. Ljubljana also bears the stamp of local architect José Plecnik, whose buildings, such as the famous Triple Bridge, continue to make it famous around the world. The city charms visitors with its relaxed lifestyle, open-air markets, restaurants and cafés along the Ljubljanica River...
Transfer to Ljubljana Airport and international return flight.
