After Montréal, a winter paradise awaits in Lanaudière A dream of architecture and the natural world

Canada - East - Montréal - Lanaudière

Lost in Winterland

From $3600 to $4800 per person for 9 days Price depends on departure city, season, accomodation types and selected activities

Itinerary highlights

  • This winter, enjoy a unique experience: the fantasy of a chalet in the heart of Canadian nature, combined with a fully implemented eco-friendly project.
  • To start, enjoy Montréal in its winter version: joyful festivals, comforting cuisine, outdoor skating, etc.
  • Tickets for a hockey game (depending on the calendar), dog sledding, Nordic bath, open-fire cooking: it’s already planned!
  • Direct flights, carbon absorption, Concierge service, Wi-Fi, our recommendations: travel the Voyageurs way.
Your address in the Lanaudière region is unlike any other. Set in a centuries-old forest in Chertsey, this bold project - that of a media outlet specialising in raising awareness of environmental issues, which, to counter unscrupulous developers, has ventured into real estate development - proves that the myth of the Canadian cabin still has a bright future ahead. That it can evolve with the times and with people’s awareness, aiming for “ever more beautiful” while also striving for “even less impactful”. The group's ambition, through this project and those to follow, is to create a truly caring living environment - a place that reflects our ability to adapt to our environment and allows for a complete reconnection with the essentials. The location of each chalet (for 2 to 8 people) was carefully considered according to the topography of its site; architects, as well as designers, anthropologists and biologists, were involved in creating structures that are as eco-responsible as they are intimate, while also serving as a place at the junction of nature and culture. The result is impressive: the outdoors blend seamlessly with the indoors through large windows that stretch from floor to cathedral ceiling; the warm minimalism is accompanied by genuine comfort; the kitchen (from freshly roasted morning coffee to a private campfire) is at the heart of the experience; each chalet has its own sauna. You come here to relax. Right at the doorstep, there are trails leading deep into the forest or, after a good walk, to crystal-clear lakes covered with ice in winter.

Your journey

A smooth landing in Montréal which loses none of its joie de vivre when winter arrives - quite the opposite. Montréalers brave the freezing temperatures with a host of frosty festivals (music and light shows) and active relaxation - cross-country skiing on Mount Royal, skating along the banks of the St Lawrence, sliding through Jean-Drapeau Park, or taking a bundled-up stroll through the botanical garden… All this before retreating to intimate spas or cosy cafés, where you can recharge with a good< local lager and hearty dishes, often featuring maple syrup. In Québec, the hockey season is also in full swing in winter. If the calendar allows, you have an appointment at the Bell Centre, stronghold of the Montréal Canadiens, one of the most iconic ice hockey teams in the NHL, to attend a game with the “Habs”, their passionately loyal supporters. Then, like Montréalers, you’ll climb into your SUV fitted with snow tyres and set off into the heart of nature, just 1 hour’s drive away, to experience the Canadian winter in all its splendour at your exceptional retreat in the Lanaudière region. There, several highlights will fill your days: dog sledding, traditional wood-fired cooking (and maple syrup, of course!), and relaxation in exceptional Nordic baths. If you would also like to try snowmobiling or enjoy a floating spa in Montréal before your return flight, for example, just let us know. Finally, for anything we cannot plan ahead - minor setbacks or last-minute whims - you’ll have the contact details of our on-site concierge throughout your journey.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Private transfer to Old Montréal with a three-night stay at a delightfully vintage accommodation. The building’s four floors feel almost like a museum dedicated to the 1960s and 70s, and to the people and events that shaped them. Rooms and corridors display archive photos, objects, texts and original films to watch on site - immersing guests in this pivotal era for the city of Montréal, a time of excitement and renewal. Beyond that: comfort is assured, breakfast is served in-room (or to take away), and there’s a pleasant lounge bar

In Montréal, winter is active! Locals brave the subzero temperatures with frosty festivals (music and light shows) and energetic leisure activities such as cross-country skiing, skating, and other winter sports, before retreating to peaceful spas and cosy cafés. And if the wind bites or snow is falling in thick flakes, there’s always a museum nearby.
Already included - Your tickets for Pointe-à-Callière Museum, a National Historic Site. The museum traces the city’s history from the presence of Indigenous peoples in the 14th century to contemporary Montréal, using cutting-edge technology and immersive experiences.
Also In your itinerary, depending on the calendar - Tickets for an ice hockey match with the Montréal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. Watching the players fly, hearing skates hiss and sticks clash, trying not to lose sight of the puck and erupting with the crowd - it’s exhilarating.

Collect your hire car (SUV type, equipped for winter conditions) and make the short drive to the Lanaudière region. Check in for four nights at your architect-designed and eco-friendly cocoon, set in a beautiful natural setting, enhanced by a blanket of snow and frozen waters. You'll soon settle into the place, an oasis of calm with that distinctive winter light. Inside, the fire crackles and the sauna awaits. Outside, you can make out the trails in the fresh snow, and a campfire is available. Will the Northern Lights make an appearance?

In your itinerary - Dog-sledding; the perfect way to take in Lanaudière’s fairytale landscapes while soaking up a one-of-a-kind gliding experience. After the ride, time is set aside with your musher and their team of huskies and Alaskan dogs - a chance to warm up by the outdoor fire and enjoy a snack in the traditional sugar shack.

In your itinerary - A warm, friendly meal cooked over a wood fire, in the company of a local Québécois, swapping cooking tips and unmissable local recommendations.
Also included - Your tickets for a Nordic spa, where silence is the rule and relaxation is elevated to an art form. The circuit is designed to stimulate cardiac function, encourage blood circulation, help eliminate toxins and cleanse the skin. Over a few hours, you alternate heat (thermal waterfall and outdoor whirlpools) with cold (Nordic waterfall, cold plunges - or simply the joy of snow), before sinking into indoor and outdoor relaxation areas in the heart of the mountains.

See & do - Ice skate along the frozen trail laid out on Rawdon Lake or along the floodlit path in Dorwin Falls Park; try your hand at cross-country skiing; explore the area on snowshoes; for the more sporty, tackle a treetop obstacle course among the snow-covered trees or try a winter via ferrata; give alpine skiing a go at Montcalm resort, and more.

Return drive to the airport, rental car return, and direct international flight home. Night on board, arrival the next day.
