Itinerary highlights

  • Create memories together on a beautiful African adventure, ending on the beach.
  • Sleep in a tent in the heart of the bush and in a bungalow facing the turquoise sea.
  • Mountain biking around Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park: your safaris are already planned; a boat trip and an easy walk in the Rift Valley are fantastic extras!
  • Carbon absorption, 4x4 with sunroof and driver-guide, e-visa management, on-site Concierge service: travel with Voyageurs.
The goal of this trip is clear: to explore Tanzania’s most beautiful wildlife parks as a family. While enjoying the best possible conditions of support and comfort. Ngorongoro awaits, a Noah’s Ark on the plains , home to zebras, gazelles, and the vast herds of antelopes (s, topis and impalas)). Experience Tarangire: its savannahs and baobab forests, where magnificent elephant herds roam freely, the largest in all of Africa. As tawny-coated impalas graze and long-necked giraffes wander, lions roll in the grass with their paws in the air like big cats, hippos arch their backs in the river, and cranes fan their yellow crests, your children will discover a thousand wonders of nature. Did you know, for example, that each zebra has a unique pattern of stripes? When a female gives birth, she stands in profile so her foal can memorise her coat. Wildebeests have a keener sense of smell than zebras, while zebras have better eyesight - a combination that helps them team up against their predators. And after the endless rolling plains, it’s time for the waves of the Indian Ocean. You head to Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania. Here you’ll find a whole vibrant, colourful world swirling beneath the waves with gorgonians, anemones, rays and barracudas. A little further offshore, dolphins, tuna and whale sharks cross paths in waters made for them. The coastline boasts a distinct beauty all its own, as captivating in its way as the Rift Plains.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Night spent on the plane, arrival the next day.

You will be greeted on arrival and shown to your private transfer. Spend one night in a charming hotel, where you’ll dine in a vast tropical garden with sprawling trees, vines, surprising flowers, birds of every colour, and little monkeys leaping from branch to branch. Your accommodation will be in small bungalows with comfortable rooms. The pool and attentive service are additional bonuses.

Meet your driver-guide, who will accompany you throughout your journey on the continent, then drive to the small agricultural town of Karatu, halfway between the gates of Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara National Parks. A picnic and cold drinks have been prepared for the day.
Already included - mountain bike ride around Lake Manyara. Follow your guide through the small village of Mto Wa Mbu to reach the shore of Lake Manyara in the Migunga Conservation Area, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the lake and the Great Rift Valley. This tour offers a chance to enjoy the beautiful Tanzanian landscapes in a different way than from the usual safari vehicle.
Continue along the road and check in for two nights at a charming small lodge above wide meadows, with the Ngorongoro Forest in the distance and a coffee plantation at its feet. The rooms are located in beautiful bungalows with cut stone foundations; each has a terrace with a view of the horizon. You’ll find every comfort and refined taste here. Take a tour of the working farm and learn about medicinal plants, among others. There are also a beautiful, well-maintained pool, gym, and good-quality restaurant.

Included - Ngorongoro Crater safari. A veritable Noah’s Ark, this immense rocky basin - the largest caldera in the world - is fringed by lush green forests. Its floor is covered by a plain, at the heart of which lies the gaping mouth of Lake Magadi: this permanent water source acts as a magnet for the animals that have settled here. Zebras and antelopes graze peacefully while hippos lounge in the waterholes with herons, pelicans and elegant crowned cranes. You can also spot lions, cheetahs and leopards here. It is also the only area in Tanzania where you can see the black rhinoceros. Note that Ngorongoro is not a national park but a conservation area, where the Maasai people live in harmony with nature. Numbers of tourists are regulated and limited to preserve its authenticity.

Itinerary - drive to Tarangire National Park, then set out on a safari in the heart of this unique reserve, in a savannah region dotted with baobabs, acacias and termite mounds. Located on the migration route of many animals, it is home to one of the largest elephant colonies in Africa, as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, impalas and oryx. The birdlife is also very diverse, including hoopoes, kingfishers, ostriches, marabou storks, and vultures.
Optional en route - hike the Great Rift Valley Escarpment.
Stay for two nights in a camp surrounded by majestic baobab trees, overlooked by Mamire Hill. Away from busy areas, your camp guarantees a peaceful, family-friendly setting with comfortable, well-equipped tents. The wildlife is right here, on your doorstep, in extraordinary diversity and richness. It feels almost like seeing a mirage when zebras pass by, just a few dozen metres away, their forms shimmering in the hot air.

Included - family breakfast in the bush. Near the camp, accompanied by a guide, enjoy breakfast with giraffes and gazelles - a wonderful way to start the day! This naturally continues with a second safari in Tarangire National Park.

Drive to Arusha airport and take a direct flight to the island of Zanzibar, a former sultanate. From the porthole, the children can already admire the magical colours of the lagoon! On arrival, private transfer and check-in for three nights at a tranquil hotel on one of the world’s most beautiful island beaches, Bwejuu. Miles and miles long, this immense stretch of fine white sand is shaded in parts by slender, rippling coconut trees. Your Mediterranean-style bungalow opens onto a lush, perfectly maintained tropical garden. Here and there, a Zanzibar four-poster bed invites you to take it easy, its colourful canopies dancing poetically in the trade wind breeze. Just a few steps away, there are spicy eateries, tea bars, and countless secluded corners to relax in.

Your deckchair is waiting for you on the beach. The vivid green of the palm trees stands out clearly against the white sand. This area is just as rich in its own way as the Rift Plains are in theirs. So, there will be time to explore all that too, when we’re in the mood. Here, languor is part of a tacit agreement with nature.
Optional - trip in a traditional boat around Pungume Island.

Private transfer to the airport, then international flight home. Night spent on the plane, arrival the next day.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Traditional boat trip around Pungume Island.

With a guide, you board Zanzibar’s all-purpose boat. The dhow is the versatile vessel found throughout the western Indian Ocean. You set sail for Pungume. The waters around the small island (still little visited by tourists) are ideal for snorkelling. The fish display a dazzling array of colours and shapes in a flickering ever-changing spectacle. Slip on your mask and snorkel, and dive into this sparkling underwater world. Next, a lovely stretch of pristine sand at the water’s edge is an ideal spot to savour a seafood or grilled fish lunch, and for surrendering to the pure pleasure of swimming.

Hiking in the Rift escarpment

At the foot of the high cliffs of the Rift Valley, Lake Manyara is a natural gem, offering a captivating introduction to Tanzania’s wildlife and flora on safari. Described by Hemingway as the most beautiful lake in Africa, its shores reveal a tapestry of landscapes: tropical forest, ,t inhabited by baboons, vervet monkeys and blue monkeys and wooded savannah where you may spot buffalo, giraffes, elephants and lions resting on the branches of giant acacias. The park is also a refuge for around 400 species of birds, including flamingos, pelicans and storks. A guided hike along the Great Rift Escarpment through the forest lets you stretch your legs and experience Tanzania’s stunning landscapes beyond the usual safari vehicle perspective.
