South Korea - Seoul - Japan - Tokyo

K-cities and pop culture

From $4500 to $5300 per person for 10 days Price depends on departure city, season, accomodation types and selected activities

Itinerary highlights

  • Treat your teenagers - and the whole family - by discovering, first in South Korea and then in Japan, the culture that inspires them.
  • Move from a traditional hanok house to a Pokémon-themed aparthotel: your private and distinctive accommodations.
  • Seoul for K-pop, K-drama, and K-nightlife; Tokyo in geek mode, then mangas, digital exhibitions, and comedy shows: it’s already planned.
  • Direct flights, carbon absorption, Wi-Fi, Concierge services, and personalised recommendations: the extra Voyageurs touch.
For several years now, the younger generation has been looking resolutely towards East Asia. South Korea and Japan. The Land of the Morning Calm and the Land of the Rising Sun. Two giants with charismatic pop culture. BTS, Blackpink, One Piece, Squid Game, Parasite… These names often come up in your teenagers’ conversations and echo in the media, associated with record-making figures and an unstoppable frenzy. A real phenomenon. To understand it (and them ), set off for Seoul and Tokyo, the epicentres of the movement. These two Asian megacities, where neon lights, eccentric outfits and unusual street foods will delight your teens, nevertheless remain the cultural hearts of countries with centuries of heritage. Gyeongbok Royal Palace and the old streets of Bukchon in Seoul, Edo Castle and Asakusa Shrine in Tokyo: both cities confirm, surpass and reshape expectations. There's something to delight the whole family.

Your trip

Logistically, the journey is relatively straightforward: a direct flight of 2 hours and 30 minutes separates the two capitals, and on site, extensive and efficient public transport networks make getting around easy (for Seoul, you even have the card already in hand). Major sites and small addresses are within easy reach. Your accommodations are also located in the city centre. They don't compromise on charm or comfort: in Seoul, you stay in a private, restored hanok house in a traditional neighbourhood that instantly captivates; in Tokyo, you settle into a unique apartment-hotel with a quirky theme... Pokémon (yes!) Prove to your teenagers that you can still surprise them. In both, you'll feel completely at home. There's room for everyone, spaces to come together, and a welcome sense of independence when travelling with the family. During the day, there’s no hesitation or boredom with  an activity in your itinerary every day. Seoul, K-pop then K-drama style, Tokyo with a manga theme, a night out in Seoul, and a tour of Japan's geek districts are all experienced alongside private guides. For the Korean comedy show and the immersive TeamLab exhibition, you’ll want to experience them on your own — no guide needed. Would you like to add a private dance lesson or cooking session? Just let us know. And then, along the way, an unexpected whim or a minor setback may arise. You have the contact details of our  on-site concierges, who are available at any time to assist you. They can even, in coordination with your travel specialist / travel expert, adjust the itinerary of your journey, including once you are on site. Saying “yes” to your teens has never been so easy.

In Seoul and then Tokyo, they'll love it…

Indulge in a corn dog between meals; admire the bold fashion choices of young Koreans; hear locals speak the language of their favourite shows; learn to recognise members of K-pop music groups; ride the subway alongside students in uniform; eagerly scan the shelves at the Pokémon Center; watch yourself try out a few K-pop dance moves; let go of the handles on the roller coasters at Tokyo Disney Sea; flip through mangas in the original Japanese; strike a pose under the lights at TeamLab Planets; and, thanks to Wi-Fi, share real-time photos of their dream come true.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Night on board, arrival the next day.

On arrival, private transfer to Seochon - a village-like neighbourhood just east of Gyeongbokgung Palace The hanok houses - those unmistakable wood-and-stone structures topped with tiled roofs - line up neatly along quiet lanes. Once neglected, a handful have been meticulously restored by an architecture studio. Stay for four nights in one of these private homes, where period charm meets modern comfort. Interiors are understated, stylish and resolutely Korean. Signature scents and soundscapes heighten the sensory journey, while partnerships with local artisans let you fully soak up this unique local atmosphere.

Capital of South Korea for several centuries, Seoul’s rich history is written into its heritage. The neighbourhoods stretch along the Han River, with the mountains always in view. Palaces and hanoks stand alongside striking contemporary towers. To make exploring easier, you have your T-Money card in your pocket - a must-have for public transport.
In your itinerary: Seoul K-pop in the footsteps of a local. Hallyu, the “Korean wave”: a term describing the spread - or more accurately, the surge - of South Korean culture abroad. K-pop, K-dramas and K-movies: it’s a full-blown phenomenon, and you’re right at the source. To really get a feel for it, meet up with a city insider who knows Seoul inside out. Everything changes so quickly here, so company - especially from an expert - is always welcome. Your guide leads you through the northern districts of the capital, discovering street performances and key sites linked to the K-Pop movement. Mission accomplished: your teens will be starry-eyed.
Optional - Introduction to Korean barbecue.

In your itinerary - K-drama filming locations.. First popularised in Asia, Korean dramas have quickly taken over international screens. Their straightforward stories, gripping plots, magnetic actors, less provocative scenes and universal values seem to resonate everywhere. With your guide, you set off on a pilgrimage through iconic filming sites - and capture your teens grinning as they pose like their idols
.
Also included - Seoul by night.
As darkness falls, a whole new world comes alive: the pojangmacha, little tented street stalls, take over the pavements; neon gains a fresh brilliance. You’ll be glad the kids are old enough now to stay out late. With a local by your side, your group roams from district to district, senses on high alert amid tempting aromas and cheerful hustle and bustle. Naturally, the itinerary features several delicious stops typical of Seoul.

Your appointment of the day - Cookin’ Nanta. It’s no exaggeration to say this show took Korea by storm: audiences flocked to see it across every province. And you don’t need to speak a word of Korean to enjoy it. The premise: three chefs face an impossible order they must deliver on time. Their kitchen tools set the pace for Cookin’ Nanta’s frenetic rhythm; the protagonists throw themselves into the challenge, creating a delightful hybrid of commedia dell’arte and TV show. It’s always good to laugh as a family - but it’s something else entirely to find yourselves laughing in unison with the people whose country you’re visiting.
Optional - Private K-pop dance class; introduction to Korean street food.

Take the metro to the airport using your T-Money Card, then take your direct flight to the capital of Japan. Tokyo - restless, inventive, exuberant - can leave you pleasantly disoriented, like a glass of good sake. A hint of eccentricity awaits in Harajuku, where lolitas and cosplayers rival one another in manga-inspired dandyism. For cutting-edge electronics, Akihabara’s giant stores deliver in spectacular fashion. For a taste of traditional Japan, book tickets for kabuki or no theatre, attend a sumo bout, wander through the old Yanaka district or visit Meiji-jingu and the Fukagawa Edo Museum.
Private transfer and four-night stay in an aparthotel close to Tokyo station. As soon as you open the door, you’ll see why we chose it for your teens - with a giant Snorlax sprawled across the bed, Gyarados above the bathtub and Poké Balls in the kitchen, the apartment is a Pokémon fan's dream. It's unexpected, quirky, and sure you to put you in a good mood first thing in the morning.

In your itinerary - Tokyo's manga culture in the footsteps of a local. Originally from France, David has lived in the Land of the Rising Sun for over 20 years and knows the Japanese capital - his adopted city - like the back of his hand. A reporter, author and photographer, he is warm, enthusiastic and engaging, with a keen eye and an easy way with words. Exploring the city with him is interactive and easy, shaped by stories that stay with you long after your tour. A whole section of the visit is devoted to manga, Japan’s famous comic-book art. David shares his secrets before leading you - like a pilgrimage - to several places across the metropolis that inspired creators that are locally revered, almost like demi-gods.
Optional - Family cooking class.

Already included - Culture and Tokyo’s otaku districts, in private. The Otakus - enthusiasts who devote much of their time to manga and video games - will tell you with stars in their eyes: Tokyo embraces geek culture like no other city on Earth. They could spend hours browsing in Akihabara, pour all their money (pocket money for some) into gachapon machines, and then stumble upon that anime item they absolutely need. To make the most of your time - and your budget - you’ll be accompanied by a true specialist. The haul will be all the sweeter.
Optional - Tickets for Tokyo DisneySea.

In hand - Your tickets for the TeamLab Planets exhibition. Set off for an immersive experience in Toyosu, one of the artificial islands of Tokyo Bay. This is where TeamLab Planets set up an exhibition in 2018; it was meant to end in 2020, but thanks to its success, has been extended - to visitors’ great delight. Shoes off (some rooms have water covering the floor), you step into a dreamlike world of light, mirrors and shifting elements… It's a unique experience that engages all the senses.
Optional - Tokyo food tour.

Private transfer to the airport and direct international flight home.

À la carte

This suggested itinerary can be customisable down to the smallest detail, including duration, stops and content. An à la carte menu of experiences is also available to create a journey that reflects who you are.

Korean street food

Some say that a visit to Seoul would not be complete without tasting its street food. Your guide for the day, an enthusiast of these on-the-go bites, would certainly agree! Tteokbokki*(rice cakes in a spicy sauce), odeng (fish skewers), gyeranppang (bun filled with an egg), or the popular kimbap* (the Korean version of maki): your outing unfolds like a meal on the move, with as many dishes as you wish (and can) taste.

Private K-pop dance lesson

The rhythm is wild but irresistibly catchy. After watching the K-pop groups perform on street stages, you soon find yourself uncontrollably tapping along. It's just as well, as you are booked in for a dance session with a private instructor. While your teenagers are obviously taking part, parents can join in the fun too. Laughter is guaranteed.

Tickets for Tokyo DisneySea

An aquatic Disney park? Welcome to Tokyo DisneySea. Located in Tokyo Bay, the park takes full advantage of its stunning setting, offering attractions that leave visitors delightfully splashed. The traditional roller coasters are there too. Young and old alike: everyone rediscovers their inner child here.

Japanese cookery workshop

Japanese cuisine captivates with its freshness, subtle aromas and delicate flavours. Held in a kitchen, this class offers a new perspective on Japanese culture and adds some spice to future dinners at home. Under the watchful eye of a local chef, everyone prepares a typical menu together. Next, it’s time for the tasting!
