Cap Corse, Corte, Propriano The marvellous island in three stops

Behind the postcard image of a turquoise cove bordered by pine trees, other secrets are concealed. Mountains and rivers, hilltop villages, historic and lively towns: Corsica boasts a great diversity of landscapes and atmospheres. From the northern trails to the central forests and down to the emerald coves of the south, this three-part itinerary allows you to get to know the island better. The village ofOletta is your first stop. It is located at the entrance to Cap Corse, a rocky spine jutting out into the Mediterranean Sea. You have to walk along the border path, descend steeply to the small marina of Centuri, then climb back up to the eagle’s nest village of Nonza. You should also head to Saint-Florent, venture into the spectacular maquis of the Agriates Desert, and then cool off in the crystal-clear waters of Saleccia Beach. For the second part of your trip, you will leave the deep blue sea behind (for a while) and take to the skies. We climb up to Corte, at the foot of the island’s highest peaks, to settle in the coolness of the chestnut groves along the banks of the Restonica, linger in the sheepfolds and sample figatellu, coppa and lonzu. Finally, you will head south to reconnect with the coastline in the Gulf of Propriano, halfway between Ajaccio and Bonifacio. Then you add the secret coves with crystal-clear water, thyme and myrtle, the gentle way of life and the warm welcome of the locals. This type of repetition does not cause frustration, and the three stages of the trip complement each other wonderfully.
