Private transfer and stay for two nights on the left bank of the Vistula, opposite the Palace of Culture. Your hotel opened its doors in 1913 and has made it through the century without serious damage, which is an astonishing feat in Warsaw. On your itinerary - Warsaw like a local. Your guide knows Warsaw inside out. There's nothing standard about this meeting: you’ll talk, share our interests and desires, and compare notes from the guides. Are you tempted by the palaces along the Royal Road? Ready to lose yourself in the baroque gardens of Lazienki Park? Intrigued by the Fotoplastikon? Curious about developments on the death metal scene? And what about Polish fashion? Let’s go! You’ll learn so much along the way. If it's tea, vodka or a plate of pierogi you're after, no problem either. With your guide by your side, the city is your oyster. In addition, a table is reserved for you at the National Museum restaurant. The dining room illustrates the elegance and modern flair of Polish design through its lines and tones. On the menu, carp in jelly sits alongside a revisited steak tartare, and leek tart alongside herring with mustard sauce. The Central European wines are a pleasant surprise. It’s confident bistronomy and an excellent time. Afterwards, a charming stroll along the banks of the Vistula is a must.

Private transfer to the station. Train to Krakow, first class. Another private transfer and stay for three nights just north of Rynek Glowny, the Old Market Square. Your apartment is located in a historic building. The decor combines elements of the old structure with designer furniture in a very contemporary style. The layout is bright and comfortable, the decor elegant. It has a bedroom, living room, equipped kitchen and dining room.
On your itinerary - A table reserved in a retro-chic brasserie listed in the Red Guide. The dining room exudes a keen sense of style. As for the cuisine, it offers a modern and inspired interpretation of Krakow's repertoire. At the table, the old town gets a facelift.
On your itinerary - The old town and Wawel Castle, on foot. A private guide takes you initially to the market square, which is a stone's throw from your home. This has been the nerve centre of Krakow since the Middle Ages. The municipal authorities, the Church, the university and commerce are all concentrated here, with the old town hall and its belfry, St. Mary's Basilica (home to Veit Stoss's magnificent 15th-century altarpiece), the Krakow Academy and the famous Cloth Hall. Then, the symbolic intensity is taken up a notch with Wawel Hill, on which stand the royal palace and the Cathedral of St Stanislaus and St Wenceslaus, which is a pantheon as much as a church. This complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A visit to the royal apartments and the cathedral will give you an insight into the heart of Poland.
Of course, there are still lots of other things to see, such as the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, which has been renovated and is now a hub of cultural and festive life. Cosmopolitanism is the order of the day here. And Kazimierz should not be confused with the ghetto set up by the Germans during the Second World War on the other side of the Vistula, in Podgorze (where there are many memorial sites). For a counterpoint to the heritage, visit the Museum of Contemporary Art, MOCAK, which gives eminence to Polish visual artists. Above all, enjoy the slightly rebellious creative spirit, that sparkle that Krakow has a special talent for. And then, try a precel, Krakow's version of a pretzel, which is ideal for sustaining you through a day of sightseeing.
