Travel in December to give the end-of-year celebrations a fresh new feel. For example, you can visit Father Christmas in Finland, instead of waiting for him to come to you. You can also choose the opposite climate, on the beaches of Sri Lanka. It’s the height of summer in Australia, and surfers are back on the waves. Less distant Mauritius is a perfect beach alternative. Between Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, festivities are celebrated under the sun. January
January is the ideal time to explore Colombia: a destination that combines the Amazon, the Andes and the Caribbean. You may also prefer a beach holiday in the French Antilles. Between Aztec and Mayan pyramids, Mexico also offers a few beaches that make you forget the European winter. In Thailand, the air remains mild, almost refreshing, perfect for strolling around markets.
