Northeast Brazil travel
A journey to the Northeast is an encounter with the Sertão, a vast, arid region. Rare rainfall, cacti and thorny shrubs. The harshness of local life and frequent droughts have shaped the culture of the Nordeste: from social banditry (Lampião and the Cangaceiros), to a rich local literature (Cordel) set to the sound of forró. On the coast, in Jeri, you take long buggy rides over the sand dunes and swim in freshwater lagoons. The beaches are wild. It’s a relaxed, laid-back stay. Scheduled: surfing and kitesurfing. At the end of the day, everyone meets up to watch the sunset from the top of the “Pôr do Sol” dune.
For a family holiday, set off on a buggy road trip from Natal to Canoa Quebrada, all the way to Fortaleza. For a beach getaway, head to Pipa.
