Zanzibar travel

Zanzibar has always inspired writers and travellers. Inhabited over the centuries by Assyrians, Egyptians, Indians, Persians, Omanis, Portuguese and British, Stone Town, the capital, has remained a melting pot of cultures. To truly capture this unique atmosphere, you need to wander through the winding alleys of the medina, walk along the grey Portuguese coral fort and the crumbling façades of old Arab palaces, brush past the heavy Indian doors studded with copper, visit the House of Wonders, the house where Livingstone prepared for his final African expedition, and head to the east coast where the island’s most beautiful beaches stretch out, with their ultra-fine sand.
