This is the secret of this journey, for which we have chosen authentic, intimate accommodation perfectly in tune with its surroundings - "agritourism" in the truest sense. In Mallorca, you stay in a former farmhouse which has been intelligently and charmingly renovated. The estate is planted with palm trees and succulents, which can be admired from the terrace and the swimming pool. As for dining, the speciality is tasty small plates. It’s tempting to stay put. In Menorca, the same applies, with a similarly rural, lush and green environment. Your hotel is a former finca designed as a small, typically Menorcan hamlet. A five hectare (twelve acre) property featuring olive groves, gardens and orchards, a handful of white-walled rooms, a swimming pool and a bar. On both islands, you discover an unexpected wealth of natural resources, an undeniable authenticity and a rich heritage. To make things easier, we have added a few private activities to your itinerary, which still leaves you plenty of time for wandering and exploring by yourself. In Mallorca, a guided tour of the legendary village of Valldemossa, where Frédéric Chopin and George Sand once stayed. In Menorca, enjoy a leisurely stroll through Port Mahon, with a local who is more than happy to reveal the secrets of their town. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and drive to the centre of the island. Stay for four nights on a farm where the carefully renovated buildings have kept their historic character while gaining a very contemporary style. The overall look - vintage chic and sophisticated - features traditional Majorcan-style furniture. Facing the large garden planted with palm trees and succulents, you can enjoy a delightful terrace and a swimming pool. The rooms offer comfort and a welcoming country feel - everything is warm and coherent. The cuisine draws inspiration from the island and is uncompromising about the quality of the ingredients - great care goes into delicious small plates.
Its contrasting landscapes, cliffs, beaches and coves, fruit orchards, centuries-old mills and tightly clustered villages make Mallorca one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean. In Mondrago Park, fields enclosed by dry stone walls - where almond trees, fig trees, barley and wheat are grown - are typical of the traditional agriculture of this region. Elsewhere: you’ll see heaths, scrubland, pine and oak forests, and reed beds. There, you can find the turtledove, red-legged partridge, corncrake and snipe, the hare, rabbit, marten…
In your itinerary: Private tour of Valldemossa, a small village famous for welcoming Frédéric Chopin to its Charterhouse, where he composed preludes, and George Sand, who wrote “A Winter in Majorca” there. A picturesque, welcoming village nestled at the foot of Puig des Teix. Accompanied by a guide, you stroll through the flower-lined alleys, passing along the way the birthplace of Santa Catalina Tomas, the only female saint from Mallorca, now transformed into a small chapel. You’ll then discover the Charterhouse, a former monastery founded in 1399 by Carthusian monks, who lived there until 1835, when the Spanish government expelled them. This is also where the coco de patata was invented - a sweet bun made with potato.
Things to see and do - Stroll through the charming medieval streets of Palma, visit its cathedral (12th-16th centuries) and the Saint Francis convent from the same period; head out to sea aboard a llaut (traditional boat) to reach nearby little “iletas”; visit the lovely town of Artà, a delightful village with narrow streets overlooked by the Sant Salvador fortress, still home to many manor houses and several beautiful churches, including the Church of the Transfiguració; have a picnic in a cove and unwind on the beach until sunset…
Drive to Palma, return the car, then fly to Menorca. Pick up your new car, drive to Alaior, and settle in for three nights at a former finca that, despite major renovation, has kept all its old-world charm. The property, located between the sea and the countryside, stretches across five hectares (12 acres) of olive groves, gardens and orchards. Designed like a small Menorcan hamlet, the finca includes a main building - the manor house - and four other houses scattered throughout the estate. Guests are welcomed in the old barn next to the swimming pool - a meeting space that also has a tapas bar. The rooms, few in number, all draw on the island’s gentle atmosphere, with white walls and natural materials.
In your itinerary - Port Mahon in the footsteps of a local. Hélène has lived in Menorca for several years and knows every corner of Port Mahon, as well as its history. In her company, you stroll through the city, moving between must-see sights and hidden corners. You chat about daily life and may make some rewarding new acquaintances. A relaxed stroll, improvised to suit everyone’s tastes and wishes, and shaped by the local calendar.
Things to see and do - Rent bikes and set off to explore the Menorcan countryside, wind in your hair; try out a new beach every day; observe the wildlife in S’Albufera des Grau Nature Park in the east of the island: mallards, wigeons, coots, great crested grebes, great cormorants and more; stroll through the pretty streets of Ciutadella and visit Santa Maria Cathedral, the port, the lighthouse and the market; taste caldereta de langosta, a lobster stew, and the island’s cured meats; visit a farm that still makes traditional cheeses; walk out to the Naveta d’Es Tudons, an ancient tomb shaped like an upside down boat shaped.
