The Raja Ampat archipelago, bordering the waters of New Guinea, scatters its 1,500 islets across f more than 45,000 km² of ocean. This living kingdom, whose name means “the four kings”, located in the Coral Triangle, is renowned for its karst formations and its rich marine life, making it one of the most sought-after diving spots in the world. Yet the spectacle is just as striking on dry land. Its often untouched islands are home to extraordinary tropical fauna and flora, whose most beautiful ambassador is the rare bird of paradise, which reveals its multicoloured charms at dawn. This archipelago can only be explored with such freedom by water. You therefore set off for a week aboard a phinisi, a traditional fishing boat to explore Penemu, Wayag, Kawe, Waigeo, Wofoh, Pulau Pef and Gam Every day, you will wake up at anchor, just a short swim away from a new island, full of promise and discoveries. You will have many encounters, starting with the navigation itself, where it is not uncommon to be accompanied by dolphins, sharks, and whales. The crystal-clear waters of the archipelago will generously reveal coral reefs and the mystical silhouettes of manta rays, barracudas, trevallies, and wobbegong or carpet sharks. You will dive several times, either with scuba gear or simply with a mask and snorkel. The beauty of the underwater world is not reserved for experienced divers alone. Then you’ll return to dry land on Birie Island, where further encounters await. On foot or by kayak, you will explore mangroves, forests, and waterfalls…

Your trip

The Raja Ampat archipelago has remained so unspoilt precisely because it is not very easy to access. But you quickly forget this detail, as the experience on site is simply extraordinary. Especially since we have arranged everything to ensure your arrival is as smooth as possible. At Jakarta airport, you're welcomed and accompanied through the formalities before boarding your flight to Sorong. There, you board the Tiger Blue, a boat built in the spirit of traditionalphinisi schooners, used by Bugis sailors south of Sulawesi island. On board, a captain, a PADI-certified dive instructor, kitchen staff, two cabin attendants, as well as deckhands and engineers, all ensure the comfort and well-being of the passengers. With space for just twelve passengers, the atmosphere is intimate and relaxed. The boat's design is both charming and elegantly simple: beautiful wooden floors, lounge chairs for relaxing, and cosy cabins. Two tenders allow you to reach the islands from the boat and organise several activities at the same time, depending on your wishes: hiking, diving, paddle-boarding, water skiing, etc. Or simply unwind! Varied and exceptional meals are served on deck. For the second part of our journey, after the cruise, we have selected accommodation that perfectly matches the spirit of Birie Island. You will stay in a bohemian-style lodge built on the water, with a lovely thatched roof. It’s understated yet delightful, and offers uninterrupted views of the idyllic waters. During these three days, you are free to organise your days as you wish - exploring, swimming, diving, paddling, reading, dreaming…

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

International flight to Jakarta. Overnight flight, arrival the day after next.

Meet and greet at Jakarta Airport, assistance with any travel formalities and your connecting flight to Sorong. On arrival, transfer to the port. You will spend seven nights in one of the five chic, cosy, air-conditioned cabins, each with its own private bathroom. The boat, constructed entirely from wood, with its distinctive blue hull and red sails, was built in traditional Phinisi style. Explore the different areas spanning two decks including a restaurant and a delightful terrace with its inviting sun loungers for relaxing. Hop from island to island for one week, discovering a new facet of this unspoilt paradise every day. Alternate between snorkelling and scuba diving, back-to-nature hikes and memorable encounters with the locals. This is a unique opportunity to spot the very rare red bird of paradise and chat to the inhabitants of small fishing villages.

A lesser-known wonder of Indonesia, the Raja Ampat Islands lie in the Coral Triangle between Indonesia, the Philippines and New Guinea. The archipelago comprises a myriad of small islets covered in lush vegetation and virtually uninhabited islands. This is a marine sanctuary and one of the finest diving locations in the world. Its waters, which are ideal for all types of diving, are teeming with exceptional marine life, boasting more than 1,600 species of fish and 600 species of corals.
The first stop on the cruise is Penemu Island where you will discover a remarkable underwater kingdom on your first scuba dive or even with a mask and snorkel. Meanwhile, on the surface, enjoy wakeboarding, water skiing and kayaking, or simply relax on deck.
As the sun goes down, set off by dinghy to a secluded bay and then take a short walk. Feast your eyes on a panoramic view of the surrounding islands, bathed in the golden rays of the setting sun.
Sail towards Wayag Island.

Spend the day on Wayag Island, renowned for its magnificent atolls and coral sandy beaches. Don’t miss the cliff-top walk which takes you to the island’s summit. The terrain is difficult in places but the stunning, sweeping view is well worth the effort. In the afternoon, explore the seabed, relax on one of the white sandy beaches or swim in the crystal-clear waters.
Your itinerary includes a soirée around the campfire under a starry sky.

Morning cruise to Kawe Island.
Your itinerary includes scuba diving or snorkelling with manta rays. Then, head to Waigeo Island, dropping anchor in stunning Aljui Bay - the ideal spot for night diving, which is a genuinely surreal experience.

Set sail for Wofoh Island. Your itinerary includes a morning visit to a pearl farm where you can discover tips on oyster farming.
An on-board lunch is followed by a tranquil cruise across the bay. Discover the wealth and diversity of the flora and the animal and bird life in your midst. Wofoh is also home to a magnificent coral reef and rich, diverse marine life. Make the most of the afternoon activities to dive or try out other water sports.
The evening itinerary includes a beach barbecue and a night cruise to Pulau Pef.

Pulau Pef is a small island dotted with coves, bays and crystal-clear lagoons, providing an ideal setting for kayaking trips. Skirt around the mangrove swamps and ancient, oversized trees to reach the very roots of the mangroves and rock paintings adorning the limestone cliffs. Dive and discover an underwater kingdom teeming with fauna, mysterious caves and numerous corals. After lunch, head to Yang Efo and dive with turtles, rays, schools of snapper and fusilier fish. Night sailing to Gam Island.

The boat drops anchor in beautiful Yen Besser.
Your itinerary includes an early morning hike in search of the red birds of paradise
. This rare species is known for its astonishing courtship spectacle at sunrise. Puffing up their feathers, vibrating and buzzing, the males lower their heads to reveal the long, curved tail feathers that form a heart shape around their heads. What a sight to behold! During the walk, admire the endemic trees and the rich wildlife populating the jungle.
Next stop Meoscon for lunch and diving with manta rays.
Night sailing to Birie Island, off Sorong.

The cruise is over, but the journey continues. Spend three nights on one of the islands in the Raja Ampat Marine Park: Birie Island. Your accommodation promises a real change of scenery and comprises 15 charming bungalows built on stilts at the water’s edge. Their thatched roofs seal the Bohemian look and echo simplicity in keeping with the island atmosphere. Wood of various shapes and sizes is abundant but does not compromise comfort thanks to a cosy bed, hammock and loungers at the idyllic waters’ edge. The bathrooms also have views of the sea and neighbouring islands. The restaurant offers an abundance of local produce.

In far-off climes, live the dream, quite literally, and let each day take its remarkable course. Divers will appreciate having some of the world’s finest scuba diving spots within easy reach. But you can still admire countless wonders of the underwater world with a mask and snorkel. On land, there are plenty of opportunities for walks on foot or by kayak. Wander into the nearby village, mangroves or forest and discover enchanting waterfalls en route. Totally immersed in the natural world, encounters are plentiful and often winged! Meet toucans and birds of paradise in their natural habitat.

Transfer to Sorong airport and international flight home. Night on board, arrival the next day.
